I said I would make a topic once there were three people joined, and that happened, so here's the topic. I thought it would be interesting because I haven't done any fantasy sports before, but know a good bit about hockey, and a bunch of other people here have a lot of experience with fantasy leagues, but not as much with hockey. If you're interested in joining, PM me an email address and I'll send an invite. Draft will be a snake draft, with draft positions drawn randomly, there isn't a scheduled date for it yet. The league scoring I believe is based on where each team is ranked in these categories (I say that I believe that's how it works because I haven't actually done it to know for sure): Skaters: Goals, Assists, +/-, Penalty Minutes, Hits, Blocked Shots Goalies: Wins, Goals Against*, Shutouts, Goals Against Average*, Save Percentage*, Goalie Winning Percentage* *-Signifies goalie stats which only count for goalies with at least 50 games started. The default was 60 games, but I lowered it as it seemed absurd, I mean, the goalie who won the award for best goalie all of last season only played in 58 games. Teams so far are: 1. Round Rock Reapers (me) 2. Atomic Pickles (AgentP) 3. Solano Ice Hawks (ZeroGibson13) 4. What The *(censored)* Am I Doing? (SkittleMonster) 5. Team Fraser (Prediction, name may be changed later, I'm not sure what his plans are) 6. Seneca Solar Bears (BrewersFuzz) |

I'll pm ya right now. What's +/-? And do you get points for most or least penalty minutes? |

While these questions were just answered, I'm going to answer them again anyway. Quote: Plus−minus (+/−, plus/minus) is a sports statistic used to measure a player's impact on the difference between their team's total scoring versus their opponent's. In ice hockey, it measures a player's goal differential. With the exclusion of power play and penalty shot goals, when an even-strength or shorthanded goal is scored, the plus–minus statistic is increased by one ("plus") for those players on the ice for the team scoring the goal; the plus–minus statistic is decreased by one ("minus") for those players on the ice for the team allowing the goal.[1] Whether or not the net is empty does not matter for purposes of plus–minus. And I'm guessing most penalty minutes because it's not one of the stats that says it's better to have lowered. So I guess fighters will have a use in this league. I did try to set up the categories in a way that players can be useful even if they don't always get points. |

Been thinking about when to start the draft, the season's still a while away, but I thought I'd try to get ideas on when people are available. Dates I'm considering now are the 7th and 10th of September, so I'd like opinions on those. |

7th would work way better due to actually being on a weekend for those of us in school |

I'd say both would probably work, provided that the 10th is in the evening/night. And I'm usually free on Sundays too. |

Looks like it'll probably be the second then, about a month before the season starts, but it'll be good to not have to worry about it. It also looks like there will be 6 teams, I'll leave it open to more for a bit, but I'm not expecting more. Someone PMed me an email address saying they wanted to join, but I invited them several days ago now and they haven't joined yet. |

Okay, upon going into the draft settings, apparently the earliest you're allowed to set the draft date is September 10th, so I'll just wait another week and figure out another date. Actually, does anyone have an opinion on whether the draft should just be a normal snake draft, or should I put it to the auction kind? Both seem like they could be interesting. |
