It seems to mix Power Pros mechanics with The Show graphics

Yeah, this is Konami's other baseball simulation series.

I don't think it's as popular as Power Pros is over there in the Land of the Rising Sun.

I ordered the 2009 version because I wanted to try out the series. I chose 2009 because 1) It was only $25 off Amazon, and 2) I wanted to see how Konami did the World Baseball Classic so I could see what they should do differently in JPPY '13.

I noticed that it has an ability system similar to Power Pros, and in fact most of the abilities are in both games.

Power Pros is more popular in Japan as PPFan said, but this series seems to garner a bigger following in the States from what I've seen, which is understandable.

It's just power pros with realistic graphics, it seems like a cool game. In the new one they have a RTTS like mode though. I forgto what it is called though.

My copy of the game came in today, so I played it for a little bit.

I played as Venezuela and was beating up Italy for 6 innings before I decided to check out other parts of the game.

I personally don't like it as much as the JPPY franchise, but it's still a very good game. Though if I had to choose between this or The Show, I'd choose The Show, even though they've definitely fine-tuned it to be much smoother and more in-depth in versions later than mine. One thing I'll commend the game for is its pick-up-and-play ability, Konami does a good job at this.
