Post subject:  Round Rock Reapers - HUT Log

I have no idea how long this log may last, for all I know it will be completely abandoned by the end of today.

With that aside, this will basically be the log for my Hockey Ultimate Team in NHL '13, I'll give updates that vary in detail for things like games and new additions to the main team. Anything else may be given as an update but may not if I don't feel like writing an update for it.

The starting team I have is rated at 3 stars overall and looks like this:

Forwards:
Hordichuk [79] - Ebbett [79] - Armstrong [83]
Martynek [78] - Sauve [78] - Caron [82]
Kramer [72] - Hishon [75] - Staubitz [78]
Boucher [70] - Juutilainen [70] - Akeson [77]

Defensemen:
Zanon [80] - Franson [83]
Petiot [79] - Gobbi [76]
Moser [71] - Mullen [77]

Goalies:
Taylor [76]
Engren [75]

These starter teams are way better than the starting teams they gave in previous years.

I don't have the slightest idea how this will turn out. I think the first few games may be one-sided in my favor because the tournament is on the lowest difficulty, but even that isn't a sure thing.

(I'm surprised I was even able to get the name "Reapers" this year, I tried it last year and it was taken, I had several other names planned if I couldn't get this)

Entered the Rookie Challenge tournament, 2/5 difficulty stars with a reward of 550.

Game 1:
Barrie Colts at Reapers

Colts: 1
Reapers: 6

Scoring:

1st:
Armstrong, RoR (Ebbett, Hordichuk)
Caron, RoR (Gobbi, Zanon)
Hordichuk, RoR (Armstrong)

2nd:
Ebbett, RoR (Hordichuk, Armstrong)

3rd:
Armstrong, RoR (Franson)
Zanon, RoR (Martynek)
Camara, BAR (Beyers, Ekblad)

3 Stars:

1: Colby Armstrong, 2 goals, 2 assists
2: Darcy Hordichuk, 1 goal, 2 assists
3: Greg Zanon, 1 goal, 1 assist

Win: Taylor, saved 3/4, 1 GAA
Loss: Niederberger, saved 13/18, 7.26 GAA

The game was one-sided from the start. The Colts eventually scored on a beautiful shot, but at that point it just made the game 6-1, which is where it would end.

Really should work on the formatting there. Got 401 pucks from the game.

Bringing me to a point I forgot to mention, pucks are the currency in the game, at the moment, I have roughly 13 thousand, which isn't really enough to get anyone I'm looking for, so I'm just saving for now.

Not a bad start.

I might play another game next time I'm on, but I may just go into the NHL Moments mode for a while.

To make this post more relevant to the log, just out of curiosity, has anyone on this forum actually heard of any of the players on my team? I know hockey really isn't anyone else's favorite sport.

Nope. The only active hockey players I know are Tim Thomas and Martin St. Louis

If there were first names, I'd probably be able to pick a couple out, although I really don't know many players besides the Red Wings.

Ah Tim Thomas, he used to be pretty awesome, but after that Stanley Cup win he pretty much started to lose his mind.

I'm not on the game, so just going off of that, I know the full names of Darcy Hordichuk, Colby Armstrong, Jordan Caron, Joey Hishon, Brad Staubitz, Greg Zanon and Cody Franson. Of those, everyone except Hishon is an NHLer. Sauve is an NHL player as well but I think it must be his first year on an NHL roster and I don't know him well enough.

As for the Red Wings, I know I'm going to go after Pavel Datsyuk eventually. It could be ages before I can get one though. I do love Russian hockey players so I will keep looking.

Moser, the third line defenseman, is now off the team. I found Dennis Seidenberg (82) for about 1000 pucks and put him on my team, he plays the right side on the first pair with Zanon now.

Game 2 (I may not put that much effort into a game summary again, unless I work out a good format that's easy to work with for me):

Belleville Bulls at Reapers:

Bulls: 0
Reapers: 9

I'm definitely not writing a scoring summary here...

Cody Franson had a hat-trick and Zanon had a beautiful goal where he went end-to-end a sniped a shot off the post and in.

428 pucks for this game. It definitely looks like rookie won't be a challenge. But if I'm still doing this log once I get into online for this year it'll make up for how good my team is now. I'll be lucky to win half my games online.

I know most of the players on the Preds. Past that, Crosby, Ovechkin, and Jaromir Jagr.

I bought Chris Pronger for 1500, he's only 84 overall in this game, so I have no idea if it was a good deal or anything, but he's kind of popular and he was up for less than a minute before I hit the buy now. I didn't think, I just bought. Even if he wasn't a great deal, I have a spot for him on my team and he didn't cost too much.

Pronger <3

Looks like you're doing well.

Bought Shawn Thornton, bid on Mike Green but he got way over what I wanted to pay. I bid more seriously on Krejci because he would be perfect for me, but I couldn't justify going over 5000 for him...

I moved the Bruins to the first line even without Krejci.

Game 3:

Kitchener Rangers at Reapers

Rangers: 1
Reapers: 4

The Rangers looked like they might be the team to hand to Reapers their first loss, as they scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead, but the Reapers stayed calm and dominated the play to score the next 4. It's still the closest game they've played. The Reapers are now advancing to the tournament finals, where they will face the Owen Sound attack. Darren Kramer and Jan-Mikael Juutilainen both scored 2 goals.

Reapers record moves to 3-0.

428 pucks for this win.

OOH, I'd love to do a HUT log... Either that or a my pro player log as a goalie :|...

And most of the starting players are from the minor leagues of hockey, or the euro leauges like Elitseren, SM-Liga, the sweedish national league, and so on. Some players are from the AHL or NHL.

There's a Datsyuk up starting at 30000, I'd bid on that without hesitation if I had that much, but I'm still only around 10000, so it'll be long gone before I can afford that.

Game 4:

Owen Sound Attack at Reapers

Attack: 1
Reapers: 6

The Attack were clearly outplayed, not even managing a shot until the third period (overall, they were outshot 31-4), a bad turnover with 12 seconds left got them their only goal. The Reapers scored a lot of easy goals and pretty much coasted into the tournament win.

1020 pucks from that game, including the 550 bonus for winning the tournament.

Unfortunately I can't really meet the skater requirements for any other tournaments, so I may have to win this 4 more times to even go up a difficulty. It's annoying not only because of how easy it is, but because of the obvious tips that keep blocking the screen on this difficulty.

After one more time winning it, I might break up the boredom a little bit by playing some kind of exhibition HUT game(s).

Post subject:  Re: Round Rock Reapers - HUT Log

Had to re-enter Rookie Cup, 2 star difficulty, 550 reward...

Game 1:

Barrie Colts at Reapers

Colts: 0
Reapers: 5

The Reapers used their backup goalie but still had no problems. The first penalties seen in Reapers games were in this game, they took two penalties and had 1 powerplay.

418 pucks for this.

They must have changed the tournaments this year so it's the same bunch of teams every time. That's pretty stupid. It used to change every time and it was much more interesting. It's also looking like you're the home team every time against the CPU here.
