Jayson McDougal walked into the athletic director's office at Powerful University, hoping to land the job as the head baseball coach. "Alright Coach McDougal, we're prepared to offer you a contract. For now we will pay you $800,000 for 1 year. You also have to agree not to cuss around the kids, okay?" "This is the only offer I have so I'll sign," Jayson said. "Our old team wasn't very good so we need to start recruiting," AD Mark Holmes said. "I already have several players, including my sons Jonathan and Chris." "Good, then go ahead and get them on the team." "Do you want to see a scouting report on the players?" "Sure," Holmes said.

Are the McDougal's twins?

And I realized you have two shortstops!

I changed Panther's good and bad abilities...

Fairly average fielding, good batting and speed though. Good contact (contact hitter), always plays hard (consistency 4), not confident in himself (clutch hit 2).

Does it directly translate into the PP stats we gave you?

Post subject:  Re: RPG #4

I doubt it because most maybe half the people didn't use PP stats. I think he read the description and decided on his own.

Okay, then I'd like to know what they translate into PP stats.

5 = G, 10/15 = F, 15/20 = E, 20/25 = D, 30 = C...

The number after the slash is for pitcher stamina.

Basically a rough estimate.

Oh, and no more ability adding/changing since I've already started.

Jayson walked out to practice with his assistant coaches. Tim Cormier had grown up with Jayson, and had played left field. He was the team's base running and fielding coach. Xavier Quinn was the team's hitting coach. He had played football at Michigan, but was a backup running back and only played once. He carried the ball one time, for a 96 yard touchdown. He tore his ACL on that play, but came back and became a coach for a high school team before this job.

Jayson called all the pitchers over. The first pitcher up was his son, Jonathan. Jonathan threw some fastballs and curves but mainly showed off his knuckleball. The knuckler was unpredictable but always seemed to be high in the zone instead of low. Jayson asked him to strike out Xavier.

Decision for AnthonyP!

A. All fastballs
B. All knucklers
C. FB, FB, Curve
D. FB, FB, KN
E. Scream loudly and run around in circles

The second pitcher was Robert Tomlinson. He threw a hard fastball at around 95 mph. "Okay Robert, let's see what you can do."

Decision for dishnetkid!

A. Throw as hard as you can
B. Pace yourself
C. Throw left-handed
D. Read Coach a poem

The next pitcher was Johnny Panther. Jayson asked him if he was throwing changeups at 83.

Decision time for BrewersFuzz!

A. Ignore him and keep throwing
B. "No sir, that's my fastball."
C. "Yes sir" and then throw harder
D. Talk to the baseball and tell it to eat a turkey

The next pitcher was David Cooper. David threw a heavy fastball in the high 90s and a slider but had no control.

Decision time for PPFan!

A. Pump the fastballs in there
B. Mix it up a bit
C. All sliders
D. Work on control
E. Throw your glove at the catcher and then try to catch it with the ball

The final starter was Sonny Bonner. Sonny was a freshman and threw a 90-mph fastball and a solid drop curve. Jayson tried to test his stamina, and said if Sonny threw 40 pitches he would pass, and 60 pitches he would be on the team.

Decision time for Paul!

A. Pace yourself
B. All fastballs, as hard as you can
C. All curves
D. Throw the baseball at Coach's face 60 times then ask if you made the team

The first reliever was Matt MacKenzie. He threw a low-90s fastball, a poor curve, and a dominant sinker. Jayson gave him a test. "You have to get 4 ground balls out of 5 batters, 3 lefty and 2 righty."

Decision for maccrash21!

A. All sinkers
B. Mix it up, but always low
C. Throw at their heads
D. Fastballs right down the middle

The second reliever was Scooter Thompson. Scooter threw a 4-seamer at 87, a 2-seamer, a knuckle curve, and a splitter. He had decent control but his 4-seamer was really flat and he mainly threw his curve and splitter. Jayson told him to strike out a batter using only 4-seam and 2-seam fastballs. The batter struck out looking on a pitch that just caught the corner. (Control +1, Eval +2)

Sam Peterson walked out to the mound. He assumed he was going to be the closer from Day One. "Show me what you can do, Sam. I've only seen you play once." Jayson called for 8 fielders to take their positions, and runners on first and third. "1 out, bottom of the 9th. Xavier's batting, then Tim, then me," said Jayson as he grabbed a helmet and a bat.

Decision for ChefBogus!

A. Go for the strikeouts
B. Try to induce a grounder and get a double play
C. Intentionally walk Xavier to get to Tim
D. Pickoff move to third
