Post subject:  Highly unlikely baseball rules question...
So, I've been ripping up these teams in Season mode... Lately, they seem to be using up all their pitchers. This led me to wonder about real baseball rules.

What happens when the LAST pitcher is injured? Do they have to substitute a non-pitcher? Are they allowed to bring a pitcher back in?

I'm sure this has never happened, but it might... one day.

I have always wondered what would happen in that situation, I guess you'd get to play T-Ball off of their position players. :lol:

you'd have to substitute someone on your bench. You just hope your pinch runner has some killer skills on the mound.

Yeah, Mark Grace, Wade Boggs, Jose Canseco and many others have all been forced to pitch at one time or another in their careers. I don't know how many times it's happened in a regular game, and not a blowout, but I'm sure it's happened before.

I remember when Mark Grace pitched. The D-Backs were losing like 19-0 to the Dodgers, it was the end of the season... So they said "screw it, Mark, you wanna pitch?" And you know he was all over it.

The funny part of it was that he imitated Mike Fetters' interesting approach to pitching. He stood on the mound, took a really deep, overly exaggerated breath, then shot his head sideways to scowl at the batter. I love Gracie.

I always find it fun to watch fielders pitch, since they probably did pitch at the High School or College level (some even in the minors before being moved to a different position).

Yea after Jose Consaco left MLB he went into a pro league and he started pitching there to for like 1 season

They actually didn't have him pitch this year when they opted to put a position player on the mound when they got blown out by Philly...they had Aaron Miles pitch the 8th or 9th inning. I'm not sure if they just didn't Ankiel to pitch or if he was already out of the game.

I'd imagine with the years he struggled with his control, which is the fact that he's a position player now, they probably didn't want to destroy his confidence by trying to pitch again.
