I can't wait for Guitar Hero : Metallica to come out. Supposed to be early '09, hopefully it will be all of their older stuff. |

Not a fan of Aerosmith, so I'm not interested in that at all. However, I'm curious as to how the Metallica one will turn out. I've been into them since shortly after Ride the Lightning came out, though like many fans I abandoned them after the Black album when their music went in the tank. Even now I can only stand to listen to the first three albums and parts of Justice. I do wish they'd release these artist packs as downloadable content though rather than as package $50 games. For GH4 I hope they get a better balance between "too easy" and "too hard." I'm a real guitarist, I've been playing metal and instrumental rock/shred for 20+ years. I beat GH3 on medium without failing a single song, though it took me half a dozen times to beat Lou because I was slow in figuring out the strategy with the battle gems. But then I moved up to hard and it took 3-4 times to get past most songs (only got through a few on the first try). Then I moved up to expert and the patterns are just ridiculous. I know it is supposed to be the biggest challenge, but many of the songs just have random notes thrown together that don't look anything like playing guitar. "Pride and Joy" is a prime example. It's a fairly simple song to play in real life, but on expert level there are all kinds of extra notes and jumping around that don't even match the rhythm of the real guitar parts. It's just stupid. I hadn't gotten past that one yet, but then again I haven't touched GH3 in months. Anyway, I hope they smooth out the jumps between difficulty levels in the next version. |

True I myself am a Bass player (3+ YEARS BABY!!!!) and while I enjoy guitar hero (I play expert) I find some songs to be obnoxious such as the wammy bar and the fact that upstruming will bounce the bar back down and end my streak I loved Metallica the black album was ok however some songs were kind of bad in my opinon i just hated Master of Puppets |

I can't stand Guitar Hero. I've played instruments for years - toured as a bassist, played college and smaller shows on guitar, and now I play mandolin and piano too - and GH always seemed too 'gamey', I guess. The same things described above - but the big stupid colored buttons, too. It makes me feel like I'm holding a kid's toy...(and honestly, spending my free hours playing a game with big-headed, no-legged Japanimation characters all trying to score a date with one of the same 3 chicks is just about the threshold of silliness I can put up with...and my girlfriend will tolerate, for that matter) I would rather bring out the real guitar - acoustic, baritone, 12-string, bass, mandolin, whatever - and be free to play whatever I want. Maybe a game that let you plug in your guitar, and then graded your playing style, solos, use of modes and scales? That might be intriguing. |

I don't understand the whole appeal and obsession with Guntar Hero so many have. What makes Guitar Hero 3/4/whatever ones out now so much better then the previous? Why do you need to buy the new one each time? It seems like their kind of ripping you off with releasing the same products with a few small changes over and over again. |

Guitar Hero and Rock Band hold the same appeal as games like Dance Dance and Beatmania introduced years ago; they're just ultra fun rhythm party games. If your only experience with Guitar Hero is playing by yourself then you really haven't encountered the true joy the game, and Rock Band even more so, can bring to people who have never played video games before. Nothing will beat seeing a friend of mine just wail on the drums in Rock Band after telling me she couldn't do it and had never played an instrument, or a video game, before. That's where the true magic lies. |

We cycled through about 20 people, practically everyone played or sang all night long. Great, great fun. |

I used to be an anti-GH snob as well, because after all I was a "real" musician. But if you take GH for what it is - a rhythm/timing pattern matching game loosely based around the mechanics of playing guitar - rather than what it isn't (actually playing guitar or making music), it's a lot of easier to have fun with. I've never played previous versions of GH, so I don't know what those were like. In fact, I only got GH3 because my 9 year old pestered me for 3 weeks straight after seeing a trailer for it on IGN. I wasn't really interested in it myself, but once I started playing it I got into it. |

In my opinion GH3 is by far the worst in the series as far as graphics and difficulty levels(you can play two songs on the same difficulty in the same set and have radically different experiences). GH2 seems to be the peak as far as fun/challenge as well as polish, although Rock Band is in my opinion superior to GH2 and 3 in most ways. |

Maybe I'm so bitter about Guitar Hero because I stink at it lol. I only gave it one try to be honest. It just doesn't seem like my type of game. |

I don't seem to get your point you're saying that GH3 is worse because of improved graphic and that any song on you play on the same difficulty will be completely different from another even if they are on the same setlist |

I'm saying that if you compare the way GH or GHII to GHIII you'll notice how bad GHIII looks like shit thanks to Neversoft taking the easy way out and using terrible shading and textures, while Red Octane went on to make something that looks beautiful in comparison in Rock Band. I'm also saying that GHIII is by far the worst offender in the level of random difficulty category. You might play two songs in succession where one is just too easy and should be on a lower difficulty set, and the other has random sprawled notes that look like I made them in Frets of Fire. Basically, just another instance of Neversoft dropping the ball and being sloppy. |

I happen to love the games. I find that even the single player is fun, when you try to improve on all your scores and 5 star everything. I've almost 5 starred everything on expert, except Raining Blood and One, but I'm just not motivated enough to try to beat Through The Fire and Flames. I probably love it because I'm pretty good at it. |
