'Twas a dark and stormy night, August 3rd to be exact. The NBA season was looking to be non-existent, at least for the 2011-2012 year. David Stern was under heavy pressure as the NBA commissioner, and was losing popularity by the second. People were calling for his resignation. He was getting booed and jeered walking down the street. He couldn't handle it any more. He cracked.

Following his resignation, after the initial happiness by NBA fans, a new darkhorse arose. Who the heck is gonna be the commissioner now?

How appropriate that none other than some the greatest players in history should share the job. MJ left his job with the Bobcats to "Move on and help the NBA in a bigger way". Larry Bird left the Pacers for the same reason. And one other man did too. Magic Johnson refused, he thought this was a disgrace to the NBA. So, a rather colorful personality hopped aboard, a recently retired man by the name of Shaquille O'Neal, or Shaq, or the Shaqtus, or the Big Diesel, or the Real Deal, or whatever you would like to call him. And so there were not 1, not 2, but 3 commissioners. But still no agreement between players and owners.

And so the Great Idea was struck up. Some loved the idea, some hated the idea, some were undivided. But only one thing mattered, and that was that the 2 sides agreed together after the Great Idea was finalized. What is that idea, some may ask. Well, that would be to throw contracts into the garbage, and make everyone a free agent, and take turns drafting the players onto new(or not new in a few cases) teams.

Within weeks, a few teams were sold because the owners threw a fit when they learned that they could be losing their players. The Bulls were put up for sale, and bought quickly by an old, yet rich man, by the name of Bob Chambers, who, after three years of owning the Honolulu Sluggers in the MLB, was ran out of town by the Hawaii sports fans after a total collapse in year 1, and 2 consecutive losing seasons.

And so, our story follows Bob Chambers once again, this time not in paradise, but in the Windy City.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow, lucky for you guys. I was actually #1 right away, believe it or not, but I moved myself to #8. Nothing else was changed, it was random.

The Draft is next!!

Bob Chambers slowly opened the envelope his receptionist had handed to him. He didn't need to be told what it was. He knew it was the "Fantasy Draft" order, as it was being called by the media. It was to be held later that week, on Friday night, allowing teams all week to prepare according to their pick, as it was Monday morning. The season started on October 26th. It was September 27th, and the draft was on the 1st of October. The teams had about 3 weeks to prepare for the season, with no time for preseason games.

Bob quickly looked over the list, and spotted the bolded Chicago Bulls name at the 8th spot in the draft.

"Yes!!" he said. It wasn't 1st, but 8th was still pretty good. He immediately called his coaching staff to a meeting, and vigorously planned out every situation that could happen in the draft.

He felt prepared on Thursday after one last long, hard day of planning.

FRIDAY
And so the draft started. Cleveland fans were still cheering, as they picked Dwight Howard with the 1st pick, passing over former Cleveland hero Lebron James, who was picked 2nd by the Jazz.

Bob wanted to win some fans over with his first pick, and was confident this one would do so. He called in the pick to New York, as he was in Chicago. Michael Jordan fittingly walked up to the podium to announce the pick. He smiled as he read the card, and said in a loud clear voice.

"With the 8th pick in the 2011 NBA Re-form Draft, the Chicago Bulls select point guard Derrick Rose."

The Chicago fans in the building went nuts, almost all were wearing a D-Rose jersey. And so Bob Chambers had gained the love of Chicago basketball fans.

Bulls Travel to Oklahoma City For Opening Game
The Bulls will be on a 1 game road trip to start the NBA season, playing in Oklahoma City, against the Thunder. The Bulls are looking to start the season with a win, then head home to play the Pistons. Here is a little preview of the reformed Oklahoma City Thunder.
