Wow. An 0-4 pre-season wasn't the route the Lions wanted to take into the regular season, but at least the games weren't counted. The Lions will have to make some adjustments before the season starts to avoid another 0-16 season. That looks really unlikely though, with the nice young talent in QB Matthew Stafford, who was plagued by injuries last season. If he stays healthy, the Lions passing game will greatly benefit, because at the other end of those throws is young superstar Calvin Johnson. He is expected to have a great year as well. Rookie Jahvid Best looks to improve the ground game of the Lions, and really open up the pass attack with play action. On the other side of the ball, rookie DT Ndamukong Suh looks to help veteran RE Kyle Vanden Bosch put pressure on the opposing QB, and hopefully force some turnover's with the pressure.
Let's hope the Lions have a better regular season than preseason!

Detroit Lions (1-0) @ Chicago Bears (0-1)

The Lions proved the pre-season was a fluke with a convincing win over the Bears on Sunday, at Soldier Field. The Bears won the toss, and chose to kick. Neither team scored on their first drives, or in the 1st quarter. Jason Hanson scored the first points of the year on a 21 yard field goal to make it 3-0, Lions. The Lions got the ball off of a punt on their own 14 yard line, and tried to utilize the play action, as there were only 28 ticks left on the clock until halftime. Matthew Stafford connected with Calvin Johnson on a streak route, scoring on an 84 yard completion to make it 10-0 going into halftime. The Bears used their opening drive of the 2nd half, scoring on the first play on an 80 yard hand-off to Matt Forte, to make it 10-7. Just 45 seconds later, Stafford connected with Johnson again, this time on a 54 yard TD. Johnson showed off some nice moves after the catch, and broke it free to make it 17-7. Hanson tacked on another field goal from 24 yards to make it 20-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter. That would be it for scoring, and the Lions escaped Soldier Field with a win. A nice week 1! The Lions will be taking on the Eagles next week in Detroit.

Philadelphia Eagles (0-2) @ Detroit Lions (2-0)

The Lions won again, with the defense causing some key turnovers. The Eagles won the toss, and chose to receive. After a punt, the Lions got the ball and drove downfield, where Jahvid Best capped of the drive with a 1 yard rushing TD. Just 2 plays later, Ndamukong Suh forced a fumble on a would-be sack on Mike Vick, recovered the ball, and ran 20 yards for a TD, to make it 14-0. At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, LeSean McCoy ran a 65 yarder into the endzone for a TD, to make it 14-7. Jason Hanson netted a 30 yard field goal with :20 seconds left in the half to put the Lions up 17-7 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter, the only score was on a DeSean Jackson 83 yard reception for a TD to make it 17-14. The Lions pretty much owned the 4th though, with Jason Hanson making a 21 yard field goal, to make it 20-14 at the 2:00 warning. With 1:15 left, Nathan Vasher intercepted Michael Vick's pass, and ran it back to the Eagles' 20 yard line, where Jahvid Best took care of it on 5 hand-offs, scoring on an 8 yard carry, to post the final of 27-14. Louis Delmas also had an interception, his 2nd of the year. The Lions take on the Vikings in Minneapolis next week.
