Today at Turner Field in Atlanta, the game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning, when the Redbirds loaded the bases with two outs. Skip Schumaker walked up to the plate and unloaded a bases-clearing double to give the Cardinals the 3-0 lead. But then, in the next frame, the Braves got runners on 1st and 2nd after back-to-back base hits from Hinske and Gonzalez, the pitcher bunted them to 2nd and 3rd, and Prado grounded out, but a run scored. That's all the Braves could muster in that inning though. But then, in the top of the 7th, after a Wainwright double Schumaker gets a double of his own to make it 4-1 now against Scott Proctor. But, that's all that would happen, as the Braves have a disappointing day, losing 4-1.

APRIL IN REVIEW

The Braves had a mediocre April, going 13-15. Even with the Braves struggling, Brian McCann managed to bat .370 with 7 home runs and 19 RBIs. Dan Uggla, the slugging second baseman, has also been struggling, batting .152, with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. A star in the pitching rotation could be Derek Lowe, who is 3-1 with a 2.29 ERA and 27 Ks so far on the season.

BREAKING NEWS
The Braves have designated Scott Linebrink for assignment and brought up Lucio Gomez, a former reliever for the Braves AAA affiliate. He posted a 1.80 ERA with 7 K's over 10 IP. Linebrink was struggling, with a 5.65 ERA and an 0-1 record.

Prado and Heyward

Except for Micheal Born, Chipper Jones, Craig Kimbrel, a lot of big names on the Braves, NOT HERE.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Chipper Jones tore his ACL in the first game of the season. He's out until September, and possibly the season.

As for Micheal Born and Craig Kimbrel, they're probably in the minors, but don't blame me. It's not like I monitored the whole roster.

The action all started in the top of the second. After a base hit, Rickie Weeks stood in and hit him home with a double in the gap. But then, in the top of the third inning, after a Dickerson base hit and a Fodor fly out, Casey McGehee hammers Dickerson home with a double down the line. Nothing more happened until the top of the sixth. When after a Ryan Braun base hit, Yuniesky Betancourt unloads on a slider and hits it out to right field. 4-0 is now the score. But then, in the bottom of the seventh, after a McCann double and a Heyward strikeout, Freddie Freeman hits a double of his own to drive in McCann. Then, in the top of the ninth, with closer Jonny Venters on the mound, after a triple by Rickie Weeks, a base hit by Counsell will drive him home to make the deficit 4 runs now. After a base hit from Rivera and a sacrifice bunt from Gallardo, Dickerson hits another run home with a base hit, runners on the corners now. But that's all the damage they'll do, as the Braves take a disappointing loss.

BREAKING NEWS
Brooks Conrad, who earned the start at third base, sustained a strained bicep in today's game. When asked by reporters, he said: "I knew that there was some pain before the game, but I decided to play through it. It was that one bunt where it really got aggravated so I had to come out." He will only be out a day or two.
