Anybody have any really good books that you recommend? I started re-reading Heat yesterday, and realized how good it was. So, I'll make a list. I'm not gonna underline them, because I'm too lazy.

That's all I can think of off of the top of my head. I said of a lot in that last sentence. Anyway, post your favorite books! It might change a life! But probably not.

If anyone has ever read Heat, you'll know what I'm talking about. Anyways, I'm gonna make one of my relief pitchers named Michael Arroyo. He's the main character. A fastball as high as I can get it, with a 4 CB/SCB and a 1 CHG. In the book he said he changes speeds for batters that can hit his fastball sometimes, to keep them off balance.

I read a book called Heart Of A Champion, which was about baseball... I don't remember who wrote it, but it was awesome.

Also, my favoirte book is either The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo, or Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan.

One of my favorite books is Ender's game by Orson Scott Card. It is kinda long, but it has alot of action and humor.

But seriously, I read a book called One-Handed Catch by MJ Auch last school year for an outside reading project. It's pretty good.

And if you haven't read Treasure Island before, do it. Not sure how I missed that one back in high school. Cool story, great writing, yet easy to digest. Plus, if you have a Kindle it's free. Also, I bet a lot of you guys would love A Clockwork Orange (Anthony Burgess). Forget the movie - Stanley Kubrick did his own thing and changed a lot of things for the worse.

I love all the John Feinstein books too!

Feinstein is great, though I prefer his adult books.

Right now, I'm reading my third Chuck palahniuk novel, Haunted. It's pretty grotesque, but I like it. I have yet to read Fight Club (his first published novel. Yes, THAT Fight Club), but Survivor and Choke are great.

Also, Freakonomics and Super Freakonomics are freaking awesome.

That's all I can think of at the moment, other than the 3 mangas I read. xD

I'm reading this book called Scorecasting. It's Freakonomics, with sports. It explains home field advantage, why going for it on fourth down almost EVERY time is better than punting, The Cubs' curse, the almost complete absence of .299 hitters, and whether Icing the kicker actualy works, among others.

I read that book. pretty good... I was always into stats and such.

Off the top of my head, it seems like Manny Ramirez batted .299 in 2004... any idea if that's right?

Nope. Baseball-Reference lists him as having hit .308 in '04.

The closest Manny's gotten to hitting .299 is in 2010, when he hit .298. In a full season, however, the closest he got was in 2007, when he hit .296.

Although I still read the Erin Hunter books, they're starting to move from my tastes.
