Anybody following the elections tonight? The Republicans seem to be winning the Senate so far, tonight could be the beginning of a lot of change in the government.

Why do we have this topic? IT'S A VIDEO GAME FORUM. Save this for a place like the FOX NEWS forum where people can argue about it.

But yes, I am watching. And I'm pretty ticked too.

Oh God, this has seeped onto the forums.
I am a Democrat. And I think that the Tea Party is a bunch of crazy people. (Just getting that out there)

The only way America can advance is if there is unity in the government. All there is now is hate campaigns, and people disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. America is a mess, currently.

Yes, honestly, I completely agree with this statement. I just thought something like this is too important to not have on the forum. We don't have to argue politics (I hate talking about politics) but we could at least discuss results and implications. I live in Pennsylvania, and the Senate race (Toomey v. Sestak) is extremely close; it's pretty much tied even this late into the voting. The Republicans are pretty much sweeping the central states. As PPFan31 said, we need unity, and right now there is very much sectionalism in the government. Interesting things going to happen in the future...

For the person who made the comment about your government being in a mess, it's very similar in Australia. I may be a little naive sorry but why such a sweeping change in America with Obama?? Is it due to unemployment?, the GFC?, health reforms? down hear all we heard was he was really good etc for America (though this is through Oprah mind you). I mean Rudd came in around the same time as Obama in a similar fashion however it was his own party that got rid of him lol. Now we are left with a shambles of a government (the party in power do not have a large majority in the senate I think its Liberal 73 while labor had 74 or so, but got the other votes of 2 independents and 2 greens so everytime they need to bring something in it never goes through.

Obama isn't as bad of a president as everyone makes him out to be. Bush just screwed us over so badly, the next president (which was Obama) regardless of who it is, would be ridiculed.

Bush was an awful president.

Have to agree with you on both those points, PPFan.

I will say just one thing, and I've said it before: Political parties are the worst governmental invention ever.

Amen to that.

I'm sick of seeing all the struggles and violence caused over who's better: Democrat or Republican. It's freakin' crazy how people would resort to hurting their own kind because of their political (and religious) beliefs. It's amazing how stupid our human race can be sometimes. It's also amazing that some people have large enough egos to think that we are perfect, because they are the ones causing the problems. They think they are the ones that should decide what's for better or for worse in this country. We should let the government decide this with some help from the people. I mean, we wouldn't let them bring Bush back in or anything.

Well, there's my side of things.

Well, the truth is, the sweeping change is due to all three. I don't know if you've heard about. The Tea Party, a group of conservatives, are pushing for less government, and more power among the people. They're fed up w/ both Democrats and Republicans, and are pushing for average Joes in the Government. Well, it worked.

Agreed, and agreed.

I also dislike people who use religion as an excuse to do things. It isn't right, now I'm not all that religious, but I'm pretty sure God is a good person, not some crazy, racist, homophobic (etc.) person. Am I right?

Why couldn't we listen to Mr. Washington when he said "Political Partys will just seperate the country."

Exactly!

(Oh and PS: http://comixed.memebase.com/2010/08/08/4-koma-comic-strip-tough-question/#comments a good representation of how I think America is now)

People had differing views on the Constitution at the time, and those people who had the views became the political parties we (sadly) know today.
