Post subject: | Hunting Log |
I wanted to do a hunting log, and share my experiences of what happens while I'm sitting 16 feet up a tree waiting for a deer to walk within 10 yards of me.(I'm only good to ten yards with my bow now, but I've been practicing and getting better) I think this will be cool, and I can come back here and say, "yeah, I remember that." So, to start it off, I'll tell you about last season. Last year I only saw one deer, a four point buck. I tried to shoot, but I couldn't get the safety off, because I was shaking so much. ![]() ![]() -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YAY!! A vote! ![]() |

So, if two might read this, then why not? It's in the right section, so I don't see whats wrong with it. Quote: "This forum is for discussion of anything EXCEPT MLB Power Pros, if your post does not belong here it will be moved. Thank you."

Sjax said that about my school log, but I guess he just hates new members. ![]() |

Most of the big bucks around here aren't coming out in daylight. Usually that doesn't start until bow season. I hope one comes by my stand RIIIIGHT before dark. Then I'll get him. Thats my update for today. |

2 people care. Anyway, we have two big deer in our land. The first is a nice ten pointer, and he's got really thick antlers. The second is an eight pointer with REALLY tall antlers. He looks huge from the side, but small straight on. I'd shoot them both. The only thing I wont shoot is a fawn, or a doe with a fawn. |

This happened last night. I heard leaves crunching to my right at about 6:15 or 6:30. I started looking around and I saw a flicker of white. Then I could see a body. The head was blocked though. The deer kept walking, and I saw it was a doe.She was walking probably about 4:30 on a clock when I was facing her, like the angle she was walking, and so I was just watching her cause it looked like she'd go 30 yards behind me. Then, she switched directions, and started walking at about 7:30 on a clock, and it looked like she'd end up 10 yards in front of my stand. So then I had to start getting ready for a shot, and she was only about 60 yards away, and I didn't have an arrow nocked(oops). So I had to get that all situated while she's walking at me. I was shaking too, of course. Then, at about 45 yards, she stops on a spot that could have been a shooting lane if I had a gun, and starts sniffing me, and bobbing her head up and down. I read in Outdoor Life or North American Whitetail that when they do that they're trying to focus on you, so I didn't move. She seemed satisfied, and kept walking after about a minute of that. Then, she was behind two trees and some brush at about 35 yards, and she must have stopped to eat some plants, because she was doing that the whole way down, so I tried to nock my arrow. She must have saw me through the brush though, because her tail was swishing like a cow's, but it shot straight up and she was GONE. She didn't snort or anything though, so she must not have been too spooked. It was a good learning experience though. |

No offense, but I don't think I will follow this. I love archery and whatnot, (sorry for my old-fashioned word), but a hunting log just doesn't sound appealing to me. |

If you're serious, no, that's not what I meant at all. I just meant that it doesn't seem all that appealing to me. I don't speak for anyone else when I say this. |
