Hey everybody! Well, I am having a really hard time changing my avatar. I deleted the default Avatar Image for some reason... :( So, I was just wondering if any of you had any advice on how to change it... Thanks!

Alright. Once you get the picture on a page by itself, it has to be small enough to fit in the avatar space(150x150). Otherwise just use the thumbnail picture that comes up right away without clicking on anything. You have to right click on it, copy image location, and paste it into the appropriate spot. Hope this helped. :)

That did help, because it is not saying "The URL is invalid" anymore. It is now saying "TOO_LONG_REMOTELINK" and I have no idea what the hell that means.

I don't know, maybe another member will. You could just do a logo like mine, except of the Red Sox.

Invalid URL means there are characters in it that are not acceptable. TOO_LONG_REMOTELINK means the URL (the remote link) is longer than the maximum length allowed.

Which characters are invalid? Is there a way to validize an invalid link?

Go to wikipedia.org , find a picture, click it, click it again, copy URL. Works every time.

There are no pictures small enough on Wikipedia, so it's hard to find things. Is there a way things smaller?

Try using some of the avatars in the topics called avatars. Those might work.

You could try google images, and then on the side there are options to change the size of the images you search for. Change it to Icon. That should fit. It's how I got my avatar.

It looks like phpBB3 only accepts letters, digits, hyphens, and periods. A URL would be considered invalid if it contained a question mark, equal sign, percent sign, or plus sign, to name a few.

When you upload an image for your avatar, it needs to be no bigger than 120x120. When you use an off-site URL, that restriction doesn't apply but the image will be forced to be displayed no bigger than 120x120, which can result in some distortion.
