Looking back on it I wish I voted Prado instead of Utley, and Beltre instead of Longoria.

Here's my quick opinion:

AL:

C - Mauer(maybe not deserve it but he is the best catcher in the MLB, no one else is having a spectacular season anyways)
1B - Cabrera
2B - Cano
SS - Jeter(some players just deserve to get in because of who they are, its not like anyone else is having a flashy season at SS)
3B - Beltre
OF - Hamilton
OF - Ichiro
OF - Bautista(or maybe Vernon Wells because of his average being .60 points better than Bautista)
DH - Guerrero

NL:

C - McCann
1B - Pujols
2B - Prado
SS - Ramirez
3B - Rolen
OF - ? I have no clue

My problem with the all-star game are the fans are stupid with this and pick their favorite players when they're no even close, this year it was the Phillies and Yankees fans who were stupid(it usually are the defending champions that do this, surprisingly the Red Sox fans didn't do much)

Here's what I don't like:

- How is Yadier Molina in 1st??? Come on

- Polanco should not be starting at 3rd base, there are 3-5 more players that deserve it, he's on the DL anyways

- Prado should start at 2nd base, I'm pretty sure Utley is having a below average season for himself and Prado is doing amazing

- I know it's not a big deal but it's amazing that Teixeira is ahead of Cabrera at 1st base, for that I hope Morneau starts at 1st base, I don't want Teixiera to start when there are better choices

- At 3rd in the AL, Longoria isn't too bad of a choice but not the right choice. Beltre and Longoria both lead AL 3B's with 12 homeruns but Beltre has a .349 batting average and Longoria has a .294 average. Over the last few years Red Sox fans have been annoying about voting in the wrong people, well now a guy deserves it and Beltre is in 4th for voting!

Don't get me wrong I love the all-star game and homerun derby and stuff. But I don't like some guys that are voted as starters

My picks as of today:

AL

1B: Miguel Cabrera (Justin Morneau close 2nd)
2B: Robinson Cano (Sorry Pedey)
SS: Alex Gonzalez (Elvis Andrus 2nd)
3B: Adrian Beltre (Longo 2nd)
C: John Buck / V-Mart (toss up, but since VMart is out, I went with Buck)
DH: Vlad Guerrero (Ortiz 2nd)
OF: Josh Hamilton
Vernon Wells
Alex Rios
(Ichiro/Crawford/Hunter deserve recognition too tho)

NL

1B: Albert Pujols (Votto then Gonzo behind)
2B: Martin Prado (B Phillips close 2nd)
SS: Han-Ram (Tulo is close)
3B: David Wright (Rolen VERY close 2nd)
C: Miguel Olivo
OF: Colby Rasmus
A Ethier
Toss up from there between Werth, McCutchen, Braun, and CarGo, but most likely going with Braun.

I don't understand why people vote so early. They opened this up in like April. People voted for guys like VMart, Pedroia - that are out and unavailable. Others votes for the names - teixiera, Jeter - despite years that don't compare with the true standouts.

To me, the ASG should be recognition of being an elite player in the league that season, not your name or how good you were 5 years ago.

I really don't think fans should be able to vote, it kills the all-star game.

and when is Final Man voting? is it after everyone else is announced.

I don't like that the starting players get chosen by the fans, and the pitchers get chosen by the manager/players. I think that it should be 40% fans, 60% players/coaches/managers. That goes for both pitchers and starting fielders. Reserves are picked by the manager. I think that's fair enough.

Oh, c'mon! Boesch wasn't even mentioned?

Post subject:  Re: 2010 All-Star Game voting

Andy Pettitte was left out by manager Joe Girardi, but Sabathia will pitch on Sunday, so that leaves a roster spot open. I would love to see Pettitte fill that spot.

And a quick letter:

Dear Mr. Jose Bautista,

Your ability this season has been impressive, but your ability in MLBPP is lacking severely. I had to trade you away because of this. Pick it up!

Thanks, BennyBaseball

Wow, major BS today. The best they can do for Joey Votto is final man vote? Beltre should start over Longoria, Molina shouldnt be anywhere near the ASG, Prado deserved the starting vote, Angel Pagan and Brennan Boesch should be be going, and each team should not need a player. At least fans don't get to pick the pitchers. Pelfrey, Latos, and Richard are all snubs. I say fans should have ZERO voting abilities. Players need more say in this and so do managers, even if they hadn't one the pennant last year.

And the HR Derby should have 8 guys. 6 is a bad number for this kind of thing. It would probably be 4 guys get eliminated in the first round and then it is the finals already. Just 2 rounds is not exciting at all.
