Look, I know most of you hate 2K for not releasing power pros last year or this year (even if they did bring it here in the first place). But MLB 2K10 actually looks like a decent game. Go to 2ksports.com and check out the developer insight updates. It's tough not having a game for your favorite sport (if you don't have a ps2/3/whatever), we all know that from last year. At least give the game a try. Of course, I'm not buying it no matter how good it looks till I see the reviews, but I don't think this one is going to be a bust. But get it on the PC if you have a Wii, as the Wii will have no My Player Mode.

Features:

-Extensive My Player Mode, beginning from Double A to the Major Leagues, with minor league stadiums and all. Structured similarly to NBA 2K's new My Player Mode (which is a lot of fun), don't expect to have a super-star on your hands when you begin the game or to get called to the Pros in a month. Like in real life, it's a long way to the top.
-A much better Season mode, with much less bugs, 40 man rosters, Waivers, better AI, and other additions
-More Detailed abilities
-Gone are the days where 30 players are ranked 99, including JD Drew. Now, like in NBA, no one will be 99 or perfect. at most, Pujols will be 97, maybe A-Rod 95. Above average players probably more like 78 (David Lee was 78 in NBA 2K on Weekly Updated Rosters and he's an all-star with 20 points a game and 11 rebounds).
-Speaking of which, Weekly Automatically Updated Rosters
-Seamless integration of online and offline play. You can play online in every mode, even have your own Franchise mode team play another or pit your player from My Player mode against others for experience points to spend on skills. Heck, you can even play the daily match ups for that day (the games that will be played in the MLB in real life that day) against an online opponent.
-No more repetitive commentary. That's especially nice for Power Pro fans (Jack Meruzzi). Every week (Sometimes day), announcers will record up-to-date commentary on what's going on around the league. So if you do one of the daily matchup games, you can hear about what's happened in the series so far, how the Yankees have aa 7 game winning streak led by a hot Cano, and how their oppenent the Red Sox have dropped 6 out of the last 9 do to the ice cold Beckett and Youkilis. Playing My Player mode or Season mode? No problem. The announcers will comment on players recent stats then too, or what team's have done of late in your imaginary league. Look, it migt not seem like it works, but from my experience with NBA 2K 10, this system works fantastically. I always fine the commentary fresh and entertaining.
- The old graphics have been thrown out the window and 2K has started from scratch. They really look awesome now, especially the players. Definitely take a look on the website.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. It really looks like a great game. Last year, there was some last minute change in the graphics provider (I believe), and they had to make a huge amount of quick changees and leave everything else they were working on. That's why it was so awful. this year, they've been working on the game all year long, and it looks like the effort has paid off. It might not quite be MLB The Show, but it doesn't look that far off either. So give it a chance, I know I will.

I'll look at the reviews, and see if I can get this on my laptop IF it works for Windows 7.

These games are always so glitchy. I will only get it if it gets good reviews but I am willing to forgive the company with all these cool features.

Hey cownip

and it has to be better than 2k9

My player mode sounds like a major upgrade in 2k10 because now there's
more than just franchise

The problem with me was always the glitches which I will expect when I get the wii version of this game but I can only hope they made the wii version better

Hey. I'm glad you guys will give it a chance. I dropped by because I wanted to make sure that all you non Play Sationers had a baseball game this year. I agree, it will all depend on the revies. But I'm actually ecisted about this. Exicted enough that if Power Pros somehow comes out, I'll probably get both.

As much as I would like a decent baseball game for Wii, I'd rather just stick with PP...
Nevertheless, I've been playing NBA 2K10 (great) and Pro Evo Soccer 2010 (fantastic), and of course simyard.
I do need to import a DS Power Pros game, though...

I'm still happy I bought a PS3.

Better yet, I'll probably buy both games. If I ever get tired of Battlefield 2, that is.

I've heard 2K10 was supposed to be better, but I'm too lazy to actually read about any of it, I'll just end up getting MLB '10.

I would get it but if PP ever comes out again I'd stop playing It.

I'm not buying it first-day, or anywhere close. See a few reviews, then see if it's worth buying. Power Pros comes out, and I'll sell it. :)

random note: this was the 1000th thread in Free For All, and it was about MLB2k10.

There's no way I'm buying it unless it's the best baseball game of the year or something, and without power pros, it's either going to be this or The Bigs. If whichever one I get winds up being pretty good, I'll forgive 2K, but not entirely. Because I know power pros would've been better.

P.S. This is Free For All's 999th topic, apple. The 1000th is about the winter olympics :P

Don't get The BIGS. I have The BIGS 2 and it is basically an arcade game. Every game you play in The BIGS will be almost exactly the same and you can't hit a home run, it has these stupid overdramatic wall jump catches that happen waaaaaaaaay too much. The Become a Legend Mode is pretty fun but you will finish it in a few hours and the Road to the Show, Life Mode, and whatever is going to be in MLB 2K10 are all much better.
