I don't get it, who did we give up and why do we need him??

Youkilis is 1B no matter what(unless he's a 3rd)

Lowell is at 3B but for all we know he could be injured

Ortiz is DH, could this be the guy who's gone?

This is interesting, he's good enough to play almost everyday and he always has good second halves. And we rejected an offer that would give the Nationals Delcarmen and us Nick Johnson so maybe we gave up a relief pitcher, I dont get it, but at least Bay has a new friend from Pittsburgh

and no I'm not talking about Andy LaRoche

He's a 29-year-old first baseman hitting .247/.329/.441; he has a history of playing well in the second half; his defense is slightly below average; he makes $7.05MM this year before becoming a free agent and he's on the cusp of projecting as a Type B free agent, though he's currently below the cut.

For a player with no playoff experience and a above average contract, the Sox seem to have made a bad trade. If they want him for a draft pick next year, that would make little sense. Jacobye, who is Hunter Strickland and Argenis Diaz? Kinda a waste right? Good secondhalf player, but do you think the Sox really need him? They are pretty much sure of a playoff spot and why did they throw away 2 prospects for a guy who has below average defense and below average hitting.

Playoff experience isn't a huge deal, just look at his former teamate Bay
Argenis Diaz was apparently a good 20 year old prospect with good defense, and he's a shortstop. I have no clue about Strickland

I just done know where he fits UNLESS Lowell is injured again

we don't need a slugger right now, we need a leadoff hitter right now
ellsbury and drew haven't been cutting it

Bay is an all star and can give you 30 HR/100 RBI, Adam Laroche gives about 25 HR/85 RBI at max. But is he really worth it? I think they made the wrong trade. I seriously doubt Laroche is going to hit lead off. Ellsbury is a pure lead off hitter, kinda. Bats Left, has good speed, steals and is on my fantasy. However, I just realised that Laroche has postseason experience with the Braves. He even batted .320 in postseason and hit 32 HR in 2006. I just don't see him producing that season this year though.

I think they'll play him part time. Proably share time with Lowell to keep him fresher.

The Pirates are stupid! I honestly believe the Pirates would still be in the running for the playoffs if they still had Bay and Nady, and Morgan, and now LaRoche. And how can you split up the LaRoche brothers?! I know they were only on the same team for like one season, but still! :P

they have made alot of stupid trades. This year the Morgan trade was ridiculously stupid

they actually have good pitching this year and here's their team if they didn't make ridiculous trade

C- Doumit
1B- Laroche
2B- Sanchez
SS- Wilson
3B- Bautista
LF- Bay
CF- McClouth
Rf- Nady

that's close to a postseason contender

If you count Nady is out for the season and to tell you the truth, Nady isnt all that good.

He's hit 20+ HR the past couple of seasons, hasn't he?

Nady is a solid outfielder. He's not top-tier but he's definitly above average.

He is below average defensively.

What are we doing? How can we "build for the future" if we don't have anybody good and if they get good, we trade them away!

Also, McCutchen is a good player. Have you seen him? He is insanely fast!
