I'll start and sticky this so we can discussion the real workings of Major League Baseball.

How about that Johnny Cueto huh... 1 hitter in his debut?

Must have been nice for you to see.

Yankees - not so hot. Their youngsters Hughes, Chamberlain, and all the young bullpen arms (Ohlendorf, Bruney, Albaladejo,Traber) all were lights out. Kennedy and the Old Guys (sans Wang and Rivera) weren't good in losses to TB Rays.

Predictions:
Yankees over Blue Jays
Royals over Mariners

Dodgers over D-Backs
Phillies over Cubs

Yankees over Royals
Dodgers over Phillies

Yankees over Dodgers.

AL:
MVP - A-Rod and Jeter tie - A-Rod sets home run record with 74, 189 RBI Jeter hits .427, 159 Runs
CY - Liriano comes back to make Santana look bad
ROY - Joba - lights out as reliever, dominant as starter - 8-0, 1.89 ERA

NL:
MVP - Utley - just because he's the best player on my fantasy team
CY - Cain - lone bright spot on Giants - 19-8, 2.67 ERA, 243 K
ROY - Cueto - why not?

Who thinks this'll come true?

In what has to be an improbable turn of events, the Cubs make it to the Series against the Red Sox, take the series back to Chicago up 3 game to 2, and still find a way to lose it. The goat gets the last laugh yet again, and the Cubs do not make it back to the series for another 50 years.

I can tell already the Astros will lose 90 games at least.

I bet Brad Lidge will meet the Cardinals somewhere and serve up ANOTHER monster HR to Pujols. That is almost as easy to predict as Jose Lima giving up a shot to Sammy Sosa.

The Cubs will lose in the first round of the playoffs because Bartman (wearing a mask with the face of Evers - from the famed double-play combo) hides a goat in his bag (in the decisive 5th game), and the goat comes out onto the field bumping into Murton, causing him to lose a fly ball, and with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Phillies walk away with a inside-the-park grand slam.

NL: Mets, Cards, Bums, Friars
Mets over Friars, Bums over Cards
Mets over Bums

AL: Tigers, Halos, Yanks, Detroit (sorry Boston)
Tigers over Halos
Yanks over Detroit
Yanks over Tigers

Yanks over Mets in yet another boring as all hell subway series.

Woot, Detroit is 0-6... a trade for pitching is in order!

I'm a cubs/reds fan but I live in cincy so I watch a lot of both of their games. It was a great week to see Cueto's debut and Volquez's debut as a red. They both pitched really good. Also Fukudome's debut was great too...too bad the cubs couldn't pull out the win in that game.

West coast people must really hate the Yankees/Red Sox/Mets Rivalries.

No Dodgers for you?

Detroit is way overrated. They should just call up Rick Porcello now.

Lol, same goes for most other sports... if it's east vs. east I won't watch it... since it'll be on east coast time viewing anyways...

[derail]and every show that says it's "LIVE" is really just live for the east coast... never for the west coast...ever... Olympics, reality shows, awards shows... even if it's HERE on the west coast (academy awards)[/derail]

will agree that Detroit is overrated... but unless the GM is a complete idiot (which i make the blanket assumption that he isn't) they'll scrape by in the AL central.

Dodgers... well... are streaky and will peak around mid-season... and coast the last quarter of the season, keeping them out of home-field... and we need some offense... and a new #5 starter...

I still think the AL will kick NLs rear in the All-star / WS... the competition is just lacking...

Just wait till the par to sub-par NL central teams head over to the west coast (Pirates, Reds, Nationals), they are terrible against any team in California

I think Dodgers will be good, and will make a big deal at the deadline.

I hate West Coast starts because they go past midnight where I live, and start at my curfew (bedtime).

NL/AL Central is theoretically the weakest divisions...

NL West (minus Frisco) is "considered" the most difficult.... Dodgers/Padres/D'Backs/Rockies will be busy beating each other up so the Mets can take the cake and eat it too.

Gotta disagree. Al central is better than the AL west.
Indians=mariners
Detroit>angels(because of injuries)
Twins>texas or oakland

Central are weakest. All the hype about AL Central is just that - hype. But think, there's the Royals off to a hot start, Tigers were considered one of the best team at the start, Indians were good last year, ChiSox won it all only a few years back, Twins used to always make the playoffs.

I think AL East is formidable, too. Obviously there's the Yankees and Red Sox. Then there's the Rays who have the best prospects, and the Jays are considered to have one of the best pitching staffs. And somehow the Orioles have the best record - on their way to another win, 6-1, top of 8th.

Well, I'm going to believe the hype. Indians with C.C. and Carmona compares well to bedard and hernandez. I believe the indians offense is superior as well. Detroit will get their act together with all the great hitters in the lineup.

also: Cano is batting 2nd today without Jeter in the lineup!
