topic This guy is highly underrated because of Chase Utley dominating the position. Comments? |

Uhm...and Pedroia. Pedroia was that AL MVP thingy. Having the AL MVP at your position tends to overshadow you, as well. But Kinsler is definitely a great offensive 2B. I havent seen his defense, but he pulls his weight with the bat. Pedroia is on top, Cano gets noticed because of the big market, and Roberts is finally making some waves after the WBC showing. But Kinsler is in the top of 2Bs for offense. |

Kinsler also went 6-6 in eight innings, since Texas didn't need to bat in the ninth. ![]() Quote: The first player to get the cycle and go 6-6 IN A NINE INNING GAME since 1890? IAN KINSLER |

I love the commercial with Dustin Pedroia for MLB 2K9 (MLB 2K9 thinks I can't hit the high inside fastball...) The only thing that I don't like about Kinsler is that his salary is incredibly high (I'm talking A-Rod high), in the game for sure, isn't it really that high in reality? Anyways, he is underrated. You know who else is vastly underrated at that position? Brian Roberts. |

In real life, Kinsler's salary isn't that high. He signed a very reasonable five-year, $22M contract that bought out all of his arbitration-eligible years and his first free-agent year. Details from Cot's Contracts: $1M signing bonus 08:$0.5M, 09:$3M, 10:$4M, 11:$6M, 12:$7M, 13:$10M club option ($0.5M buyout) award bonus: $50,000 for All Star selection With the club option and award bonuses, his contract can max out at $31.8M over six years. |

wow, then was it just some glitch or typo that it's 22000 or something in the game? |

The total guaranteed amount of Kinsler's contract is $22M, which is the equivalent of 22000 points in the game. They should have used the average annual value of 4100 points (if you don't include the signing bonus or option buyout) or thereabouts. I don't have MLBPP'08, but from what I've read on this site, most salaries are pretty much on target, with Kinsler's being the most glaring exception. |

I got Utley in the first round so I don't really need him. ![]() |

Being in the World Bassic Classic doesn't make you famous, it's ratings in the U.S. are very, very low. Brian Roberts is one of the better known second basemen simply because he's one of the best and he's been doing it for a very long time, unlike Pedroia, Cano, and Kinsler. Utley is good too. Cano is highly under-rated at this point, but is known because he hit 340 and 315 his first two years and was once considered one of the best second basemen and future hitters in the game. |
