it seemed like a great start to the '09 season but after only a few days into the year we have 2 tragedies...

first, a fatal brawl between fans at Angel Stadium on opening day. the fan that was critically injured on Monday died Wednesday night. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090408&content_id=4168976

on the same evening, Nick Adenhart of the Angels dies in an accident after the game
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090409&content_id=4179446

thats not to mention that during opening day in Anaheim, a piece of concrete fell from off the stadium. luckily no fans were injured.

after doing a quick search, i learned that homicides at baseball games and other sporting events are more common than i'd like to think. not even at a baseball game can you relax and get away from the harsh realities of this world? on the MLB site where these 2 stories are posted, fans are still at each other's throats! the official MLB chats are just as worse and in dire need of moderators. it seems as though MLB and many of it's fans need a few pointers on sportsmanship by the MLBPP World members. despite the bitter rivalries in baseball, gamers and fans here at MLBPP World for the most part seem to govern themselves and have respect for the next guy, at least from my experience on the forums. just my "2 cents."

thoughts & prayers go out to friends, family, fans, and team mates
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart and the yet to be identified baseball fan

Adenhart's death is a real heartbreaker for baseball. He was a good rookie, no, a great rookie, and it's sorry to see his life cut short after pitching 6 shutout innings of baseball. By the way, the guy that blindsided him got arrested.

Wow, what a shame. Shoulnd't you just be able to relax at a baseball game?

The worst part of it was that he was only 22 and had his whole life ahead of him.

He could've been a great pitcher....

The Angels sure are having a rough start.

Sure, his death was a tragedy but anyone's death is a tragedy. But honestly, a great rookie? He pitched six innings this year so your comment is very premature.

I had his name right on the thread title but not in the post. I stand corrected.

Thinks are just getting worse for the angels, first they lose Nick, then they get in a huge fight with the socks. poor Angels :crycry:

could be worse from a standings perspective. they didn't go the route of the indians and nationals and are playing .500 ball
