Yes, I still get the kids version, I like it.

I am SHOCKED by there picks this year and even outright mad at them.

At a glance, they had the Phillies not even making the postseason, which I suppose COULD happen.

Here's what they chose:

AL East:
1) Rays
2) Yankees
3) Red Sox
4)Orioles
5) Blue Jays

The number 1 2 and 3 spots can easily be disputed.
However, they said the Blue Jays won't even contend, I think they will atleast for a little while, you put them in any other Al division and they could win the division.

AL Central
1)Indians
2)Twins
3)Tigers
4)Royals
5)White Sox

I agree that the Tigers and Indians will bounce back, but I just don't think that the White Sox will fall all the way to the basement. I suppose it could happen with Cabrera and Swisher gone.

AL West
1)Angels
2)Athletics
3)Rangers
4)Mariners

No surprises here really. The A's should contend. Of course the Mariners might bounce back

NL East
1)Mets
2)Braves
3)Phillies
4)Marlins
5)Nationals

Yes I can see the Mets winning, the bullpen shouldn't blow it with bot Putz and K-Rod. The Braves could do that but I don't know, the Phillies are strong and they have them missing the playoffs.

NL Central
1)Cubs
2)Astros
3)Cardinals
4)Reds
5)Brewers
6)Pirates

No complaints from me here.

NL West
1)Dodgers
2)Diamondbacks
3)Giants
4)Rockies
5)Padres

No complaints here

Playoff picture:

AL East: Rays
AL Central: Indians
AL West: Angels
Wild Card: Yankees
Pennant: Angels

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Dodgers
Wild Card: Diamondbacks
Pennant:Cubs

World Series Winner: ANGELS OF LOS ANGELES

I don't know if the Angels can do it, but if the the Sox do miss the playoffs they don't have to worry about them. But No phillies!?!?!

Another Rant: They said the Red Sox will struggle to keep up with the youth and talent of other teams, yet they don't say that about they Yankees. To me I think the Red Sox have just as good of prospects as the Yankees and the Red Sox have their fair share of GREAT prospects.

Like:
Lars Anderson
Clay Bucholz
Justin Masterson
Some Daniel Barden guy or something
Some really really good Double A prospects
and believe me, they have many many more
Boston Radio shows are saying the Sox are stacked with pitching (prospects including)

The Yankees too have:
Brett Gardner
Austin Jackson
Ian Kennedy
Phil Coke
Phil Hughes

I think that both the Red Sox and Yankees farm systems need work, and not sure what farm system I would give better, but beacause I know more of the Red Sox's farm I would have to give it to them. I would reasearch the Yankees farm. I

They picked the Astros second. :D Everyone slots them at 5th for some reason.4th is the absolute lowest I would put them. Probably 3rd though.I haven't gotten this month's issue yet though. I'm going to make Buzz Beamer once I finish my HOF players. :)

Here's mine, it was REALLY tough to pick out the east so I tried my best, I didn't go by any projected standings, I just made what I think the standings are gonna be and that sports illustrated thing is wrong in quite a few ways. In my projection there are quite a few close pennant races and suprises but anyways heres mine:

AL East

1st- Red Sox (97-65)

2nd- Yankees (96-66, 1 GB)- Wild Card

3rd- Rays (94-68, 3 GB)

4th- Blue Jays (85-77, 12 GB)

5th- Orioles (74-88, 23 GB)

AL Central

1st- Twins (89-73)

2nd- Indians (87-75, 2 GB)

3rd- White Sox (86-76, 3 GB)

4th- Royals (83-79, 6 GB)

5th- Tigers (74-88, 15 GB)

AL West

1st- Angels (94-68)

2nd- Athletics (87-75, 7 GB)

3rd- Rangers (80-82, 14 GB)

4th- Mariners (65-97, 29 GB)

NL East

1st- Mets (95-67)

2nd- Marlins (92-70, 3 GB)- Wild Card

3rd- Phillies (91-71, 4 GB)

4th- Braves (82-80, 13 GB)

5th- Nationals (72-90, 20 GB)

NL Central

1st- Cubs (98-64)

2nd- Cardinals (91-71, 7 GB)

T-3rd- Reds (87-75, 11 GB)

T-3rd- Astros (87-75, 11 GB)

5th- Brewers (83-79, 15 GB)

6th- Pirates (67-95, 31 GB)

NL West

1st- Diamandbacks (93-69)

2nd- Dodgers (89-73, 4 GB)

3rd- Giants (82-80, 11 GB)

4th- Rockies (74-88, 19 GB)

5th- Padres (61-101, 32 GB)

Post subject:  Re: SI Kids Pick

if I was really biased then I'd put the Yankees in third and 20 games behind us but I was nice and gave them a great record and a wild card spot

I like the way you think :D

But the only way I would want the Yankees in the playoffs is if we get to play them, the last 2 ALCS between us were amazing. 2003: Boones homerunyawn And in 2004: The Red Sox combebackwoohoo!
Since then we haven't seen eachother in the playoffs

Interesting how you put the Marlins in 2nd place over both the Braves and the Phillies...

Both East divisions are the toughest and most competitive, and both West divisions are the easiest and least competitive.

Well the Phillies had the same record pretty much as what I put up and I think the Marlins have a good young team that is only going to get better as time goes on

Post subject:  Re: SI Kids Pick

are you sure those wins and losses add up correctly? With the number of teams that have winning records the Nationals should have lost 121 games...

Ya the win and loss thing would be tough to calculate so later I'll change a few things around, I guess I gave some teams rtoo much credit

Fixed, I just needed to decrease a few more wins from teams and it looks more normal
