Fun forum game to play, sometimes. Anyway, I'm interested in seeing who you guys think is overrated/underrated at each position. A-Fraud is obviously (and always will be) the most overrated third baseman in the history of baseball.

Hmm, Def-o A-Roid. Maybe someone like Jermaine Dye, or Dewayne Wise, for under-rated. I still think my Favorite player(Jim Thome) Is underrated ;)

Derek Jeter's and Jose Reyes' defense are very very overrated. Very low Range Factors, which means they don't prevent a lot of singles, which means they don't prevent a lot of runs for their team, thing that The Wizard of Oz really did.

Underrated:

Stephen Drew, Ryan Doumit, JJ Hardy, Mike Pelfrey, Gil Meche, Johnny Peralta, Mark Ellis, John Lannan(I heard he had more quality starts than Johna Santana and some other good starter, Dan Uggla(Everyone thinks he's bad because of his defense, strikouts and average but when you have 90 homeruns in 3 seasons as a second baseman, you should'nt be overlooked)

And theres many more I can think of

No, I would say the opposite. He is very underrated right now, ask any non-Yankee fan what they think of him, and you'll understand.
Cano is heavily underrated. This guy had one bad year last year, and now everyone thinks the Yankees should trade him away. Bull. Remember, this is the same guy that hit 342 and was 2nd in the batting title in 07, and hit 320 or something like that in 08. He still have a 305+ batting average (it could be over 310, I don't remember).
Joba, though I love him, is overated. So is Price, he really hasn't done anything yet. Linecum, guys call him the 2nd best pitcher but he's only had 1 season. What about Roy Hallady, CC Sabathia, or Jake Peavy?! K-Rod is a little overated (though still a great closer), Burnett, Mat Wieters (hasn't played a single triple a game yet!), and John Lester (only based on Fox saying he was a future hall of famer at the all-star break),

Good list Lanceberkman, I forgot about Davis, DeRosa and Ludwick
I wouldn't exactly call Lowrie underrated, if you look at his stats straight up then his numbers are only ok for a rookie. But he was injured and he did a great job at shortstop(0 errors)

a-roid is more overrated than wright, roids or none.

anyways, what about carlos lee/carlos beltran?
or matt cain/jonathan sanchez?
or asdrubal cabrera.

anyways, overrated is definitely cc sabathia and burnett, i'm sorry but sabathia will either have a great season or he'll suck.
burnett wasn't really that good last year, and chances are he'll stay around that level.
also, k-rod.

A-Rod is not overrated. He can produce runs and HRs without steroids and has a good range factor.

How is Rivera overrated? Best adjusted ERA all time and still can throw at 95 mph. Nearly perfect in saves last year. Nathan has great stuff and is definitely underrated.

so is jose valverde, on that note.
what about scot shields and jc romero, possibly the 2 best set-up men in the league?
Don't forget about Fred Lewis, he could be great if he can develop some more of his raw power.

on the field, his offense is slightly better than wright's, but wright's defense is better, plus wright is much younger and much cheaper.
Also, RBIs are based so much on opportunities (read: a-rod gets more opportunities than wright), they don't count well for measuring performance.
Everyone knows someone like Jose Reyes would have 100 RBI seasons every season if he bats in the right spot.

Slightly better? Has Wright ever reached 50 HR in a season? Wright is definitly cheaper as he is younger. A-Rod would nv get a 30 mil contract if he was 26.
