They're showing a pretty good game on MLB network
Its Nederlands and the DR in the 10th with the score tied a 0, its an elimination game for the Nederlands and its been a great game so far if you ask me

Ouch. Nederlands come back from 1-0 in the 11th and won on an error by Willy Aybar

Poor guy, it always hurts to see a walk-off error. But it was a hard hit ball so it didn't look that bad. I'm rooting for this team if US fails

It was a great game. A lesson in humility to the dominicans: there's no such thing as an automatic win. You win ballgames playing them, not by having your entire roster in MLB.

What a game! I couldn't believe it when I turned on the game and it was the top of the 11th and Dominican was winning 1-0. How the hell did the Netherlands make it so far? Poor Aybar, giving up that final run and the screw up with the pick off. I'd say the Netherlands have no chance, but I don't know anymore. They beat the second or third best team, (best if they still had A-Rod), so you never know. But seriously, is there really any baseball in the Netherlands, at all! It seemed like they had 13 baseball teams and needed 16 so they threw in Australlia, Italy and the Netherlands. I think they were considered the 16th seed! It's like soccer in the U.S., but 1/10 as popular. Wow.

The Netherlands reminds me of the Cardinals. Noone gave them a chance in the playoffs but they still made it to the superbowl, but still the Nederlands have a ways to go...

What? No, that's not true. People thought there was an outside chance, but here no one thought it was even a remote possibility. If you want to compare it to a world series, how about the Yankees and Pirates. The Yankees were by far the better team, one of the best teams of all time (Mantle, Yogie, ect.) but they lost. The Cardinals weren't that big underdogs in comparison.

No, nobody thought they would be there...

Ask anyone at the start of the season last year who the super bowl matchup would be, alot would probably say

Patriots and Cowboys Both were the favorites.

They may have said then Steelers and Cowboys.

Or the Colts etc.

Ask at the playoffs most could be in agreement that it would be

Colts or Steelers V Giants or something.

Nobody thought they would be there. Not many thought they would even win their divsion, Seahawks were favorites.

And making comparisons from Football to Baseball is completly irrelevant, they are two different sports. I unserstand where we are going however.

Now, DR WOULDN'T have been the best teams in the WBC whether they had A-Rod or not. Japan would still be the favorites, then DR Korea or USA, tough choice but I'm not sure.

The Netherlands have a professional baseball league. And they have a lot of players that can play because of the Antilles. Andruw Jones played for the Netherlands in 2006.

Whats amazing is that the Dominican Republic is full of all-stars and the Nederlands have one major league player, Sidney Ponson.

I'm talking about the beggining of the play offs. At the beggining of the football season, there are 32 football teams, but 12 teams in the playoffs. 12 teams is much closer to 16. The odds for Arizona winning the Superbowl from the beginning of the play offs were surprisingly high, they were expected by the only website I could find that had odds to make it to the Superbowl (once they made the play-offs and the Giants had been eliminated). Netherlands chance of wining the classic? I believe they are 250-1 (at the beginning of the classic), but they could be 500-1 also. It was a month when I read the results.

USA and Dominican Republic were actually equally favored in terms of odds to win it. Japan was third, but very far behind. Puerto Rico I believe was after that, then Korea or Cuba.
