Anybody else looking forward to this? It seems to be getting mixed responses because on one hand while more baseball is always great but a few people don't want to see their pitchers get too tired before the start of the season and risk injury.

Personally I can't wait for it. There are regulations for the amount of pitches a player can throw so i'm sure things won't be too bad and for fielders it'll be a good part of the pre-season warmup if they avoid getting injured, plus I can't wait to see stars outside of the MLB (eg. Yu Darvish) in action.

I'll look forward to it. We'll get to see players outside the MLB. Who do you think are gonna win? I think Japan would will, thoug USA are the favorites.

Being a Pirates fan, I love the WBC, because none of the Bucs are good enough to be in it to risk injury! I also love watching the other countries play.

You asked for spelling of those two players, I gave a little more. You're welcome.

Go Mexico!!

They're not favourites, but they can compete, and maybe take out USA from contention once again!!

For hitters I'm excited, but pitchers I don't want to see injured. It's a shame that Wang, Matsui, and Rivera can't play because of injuries. Rivera was apparently injured the whole season, he just kept it secret till the last day. He got minor shoulder surgery after the season, nothing serious. It's enough to make sure he goes to spring-training.
I still am excited. I can't wait to see Bernie Williams play again!

Yeah my money's on the usual suspects USA, Cuba, Japan and the Dominican Republic (though SOuth Korea were in the last4 instead of the USA in the first one). It's a shame the UK never qualified but hey, maybe I can lead them there in 4 years time if the US don't want me  .

I know it's not very cool to bump your own thread but the Provisional rosters have been announced. USA is looking good, kind of expected Cliff Lee in there but I suppose he has pull ups to do.

i'm definitely looking forward to the WBC. i have favorite players from just about every team but will be mostly rooting for the dominican republic (insane lineup!), japan, chinese taipei, cuba (silver medalists in the olympics) and the gold medalist champs korea. funds permitting, i'm planning on going to at least 1 game at petco. it's disappointing that alot of pros won't be participating but still exciting none the less

A lot of people (not in this board) are talking about how Mexico's roster is "filled up" with mexican-americans. They're only 6 of them, and they still count as mexicans from what I know. If they benefit from being also american, let them be.
