I've heard things that the Yanks would go after Manny but now i doubt he will come because of there surprising signing of Mark Teixeria. Does anyone have any ideas to where the slugger will land?

I would probably say either the Dodgers or the Yankees. Dodgers are his last option if nobody else really wants him but Manny as a Yankee would be scary not only would the lineup be crazy but the Red Sox and Yankees rivalry will be even more amazing.

If there's any 2 things the Yankees don't need, it's older players and outfielders. Cashman has made a commitment to youthinize his team. The Yankees have more then half there team in a 4-5 age bracket in the mid-late thirties. They need to find younger players so they don't lose all their players at once.
The Yankees have too many outfielders. This year, they had Bobby Abreu, Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon, Nady, Xavier, Melky Cabrera, Brett Gardner, and Justin Christian. That's not mentioning their other prospects that will be in the majors soon like Austin Jackson, Mark Melancon, and Jose Tabata (to name a few). They had to let Abreu go even though he might be the best player of the group because they couldn't hold so many players. They don't need more outfielders, it's already too crowded in there.

Same problem with the Rays,

Crawford, Ruggiano, Perez, Upton, Floyd (if nec.), to name a few, not to mention there other long line of prospects.

Although the last thing they have to worry about is age haha. Not as much of a problem, because Perez, Rugiano, and Floyd aren't as good as the Yankees I named. I don't know the Rays outfield prospects. Of course, then there's Upton and Crawford, who I think are easily better then the other Yankees (Maybe not Matsui as a hitter, and I guess you could argue Damon and Abreu, but I wouldn't).

I hope he goes to the Dodgers, and that's what I expected to. There really isn't anyone that interested with his price tag. He's exactly what the dodgers need, it makes perfect sense for theme/

He'd better go the Dodgers, I thought the AL East was much better without him.

He was asking to be traded. He was an entertaining player, but then it got old.

The Yankees do NOT need any more outfielders at all. I thought they were set before they signed Teixeira, but when they signed him, that forced Swisher to play outfield and signing Manny would be just too many outfielders. I'm assuming next year's outfield for the Yankees will be Damon in left, Swisher in center, and Nady in right.

They don't and the yankees need to worry about age.

Also Chicubs, off-topic, but could reply to my message?

Ruggiano is a better fielder than you think.

Perez is blazing fast, like Gardner.

Honestly i dont like Swisher at all......i know the yankees have way to many outfielders in my opinion it should be LF Damon/ RF Nady/ CF Gardner he really impressed me in his showing he has the speed and athleticism that the Yankees need and his hitting really improved in September. I really am going to miss abreu though he was one of my favorite players and he was always consistent in everything he did even when the Yankees did bad. Also am i the only one who is wandering if Nady will be good next year as well ? Wasnt this just a breakout year for him, like in the past wasn't he just average ?

No, I don't think so, poor Swisher never plays the center-field, and Girardi said before signing Texiera that he doesn't see him every play in Center Field. I think it will be a fight between Melky and Gardner, though Damon could play center and Swisher left. I like Cabrera a lot, but unless he gets it together and hits to his potential (or what we once thought was his potential), Gardner is the future center-fielder.

What do you mean Swisher never plays center field? He's played a total of over 1000 innings there the past two seasons, though that's due to Oakland and Chicago not having better options. Cashman hit the nail on the head when he said Swisher would be more of an insurance policy there. He's much better suited at first base and the corner outfield positions.

In any case, it's clear the Yankees will be trading at least one of their outfielders.

No, how is it clear? I'd say there probably not, but there's an outside chance. It just means they won't resign whoever is a free-agent next. Matsui is a DH on the team soley now, not as much of an outfielder. He's one of the best DH in the game.
