Who do you think the "Surprise Team" will be? I personally think it will be the A's or the Royals, more the A's.

Come'on admit it.

Traded for Holliday.
offered Furcal contract (40mil)
They aren't a "bad" team, and they play in a weak division could depend on how Angels do. I think they could contend.

They have been saying "there is always next year" for who how many years this could be "THE" year.

Royals probably a lesser chance.

Signed veterans (Farnsworth, Horacio Ramirez)
If Gil Meche has a good season, it could inspire other player.
Traded for power at 1B in Jacobs.
Billy Butler will do even better this year
Play in a fairly weak division

They haven't contended for a while. This could be the year they strike.

Not to be biased, but I think the Bucs could pull through this year, just not as far as the Rays did last year. I also think that the A's have a decent shot at it.

Sorry Pirates brother, it just isn't going to happen. We're not making any moves, and we'd be lucky if we got 80 wins. :(

The A's wouldn't be a suprise team, at least not in the sense of the Rays. Yes the Angels are heavy favorites, but that doesn't mean the Athletics can't take the division. It would be unexpected (and make me very happy), but not that big of a surprise. I've always liked the A's as my first ever game at Yankee stadium was A's Vrs. Yankees. I sat in the top deck, 3-5 rows up from the end of the deck, and I LOVED that game. I remember Mike Mussina pitched because of all the Mooooooooooooooose cheers. Even thought the Yankees lost, it was a great and close game. Even though the A's won, I still like em'. And, the A's will probably sign Giambi too, furthering their chances. They definetly have a good team, and while the Angels are the heavy favorites, its certainly possible that the A's could pull through.

I know, but if we some of the prospects we got from terrible trades improve to be Major-league caliber, then we have as good of a shot as the other surprise team out there, the Royals. Plus, I don't even think that we're going to win 70 games!

You guys do have the Yankees Kartsens, and he threw 3 shut-outs and 1 perfect game until the 8th or 9th inning. He just always got injured with the Yankees, but if he stays healthy, you got good potential there. That was a pretty good trade.

It was a good trade. Karstens has a good arsenal of pitches too. Work on his fitness and durability. Who else did they get from trade?
