Post subject:  Are the Yankees really that bad?
I know everyone always hates the Yankees and says how they buy there team, there's no real "passion", everything they have is bought. Well I decided to look and see how true that is. I don't necesarily agree its as bad as people think it its, so I'm going through their roster last year and showing what was home-grown or traded for and what was "bought" or involved signing free-agents. Rather then scare everyone away with one big huge post like I usually do, I'll do it in segments.

Offense:
C - Jorge Posada Home Grown
1B - Giambi, yes he was bought. He was overpaid because he used steroids before coming to the Yankees and was wildly successful. Soon after he joined, he admitted to using them without and investigation and stopped taking them immiedietly.
2B - Cano -Home grown by the Yankees.
SS - Jeter-Home Grown, they just resigned him for what he deserved and would have got elsewhere.
3B - A-Rod Gotten in a trade originally, he wasn't stolen by the Yankees, they just resigned him. They didn't do anything wrong here. It was the Rangers who stupidly signed him for 27 million when no one else really even got 20 million. They couldn't pay the contact so they traded him to the Yankees. That 27 million signing was one of the biggest bluffs in history, courtesy of brilliant agent Scot Boras.

LF - Damon, asked the Yankees to sign him, they did. He wasn't stolen from the Red Sox, they made a mistake of signing Coco Crisp and trying to get Damon to bluff. Admit it, he looks way better without the beard.
CF - Melky and Gardner, home grown
RF - Abreu, traded for
LF - Nady, traded for
DH - Matsui, only wanted to be signed by the Yankees, a free agent in Japan

The only player they "stole" in the offense was Giambi and arguably Damon.
Not that bad, eh?

Edit:
Other Players worth mentioning:
Austin Jackson, Shelly Duncan, Jose Tabata, Jesus Montero, Kennedy (outfielder), Juan Mirand, Edwar Gonzalezz, Ect. all home grown.
Betimit, Jose Molina, and another player whose name I can't remember were signed, but they weren't really stealing them or outbidding them from anyone else or anything.

They never found out if Damon asked to be signed.

Austin Jackson, Shelly Duncan, Jose Tabata, Jesus Montero, Kennedy (outfielder), Juan Mirand, Edwar Gonzalezz. All of them are obviously friggin home-grown beacause they are in the farm.

And for all we know, none of them may ever become MLB players.

What's with the cold reaction mate? Anyway, unless Austin Jackson gets injured, he certainly at least a back-up and is considered one of the top-prospects in the game after getting the double-a MVP. Scouts often call him the next Manny Ramirez (which doesn't mean he's going to be as good as him, but hit the same style. Still, it's definetly a good sign when they say that. And no, he doesn't have the personality, he's always motivated and hard-working).

Now for the bull-pen.
Mariano Rivera-Home Grown
Farnsworth-Home Grown?
Veras-Home Grown
Ramirez-Home Grown
Phil Coke-Home Grown
Bruney- Home Grown
Marte- Traded for
Robertson or Roberts (don't remember)- Home grown
Pitcher who starts with br-home grown
Unless I forgot someone, there all home grown and this is definetly one of the much better bullpens in the game.

Just beacause you can hit in the minors doesn't mean you'll hit in the majors.

He's right, the difference is huge. Pressure plays an important role, and being on the Yanks doesn't help it.

Yeah, but it's not just the stats, it's his actual swing, muscle, fielding (which is the same at any level), speed, ect.
Starters:
1. Cheng Ming Wang signed for a very small contract, from Taiwan, sort-of-home grown
2. Mussina Signed a while ago, but yes, not home grown but known more as a Yankee then an Oriole
3. Pettite Home Grown
4. Joba Home Grown
5. Hughes Home Grown
6. Kennedy Home Grown
7. Aceves Home Grown
8. Igawa/Pavano, Unlucky signings, not home grown
See how little players were bought?

Players in AA have slower pitches, so when he makes AAA and maybe majors, he will need to adjust the swing. It's how the Yankees buy, not who's homegrown and who's not. They pay their way for players and one it's going to lead to their downfall.

Yes, but with the exception of Damon, Burnett, and CC, everyone's home grown on the team now.

Who cares if they are "home-grown" everyone usually hates how they just throw money around. You heard it here first, the Yankees downfall will lead to their demise. The Red Sox, Angels and Phillies have the same amount of money, but they handle it better.

Actually, I've heard about it in about 100 places. And I disagree, their not throwing it arround like they did in the early 90s, it's being used very well right now. Cashman has done an exellent job.

You are WAY to protective. If they aren't throwing it around, why did they spend half a BILLION on just 2 pitchers.

Actually I've heard it in 200 places, duh, of course it's everywhere. Go to Cleveland and you'll get the real reason, what does media know?

Uh, not quite the same amount. But yeah, they use what they have a lot better. Also, that's the main reason my Dad dislikes the yanks, how much money they have. (not that i am still at that age where i think my parent's are gods, but i do still value their opinions [most of the time :lol: ]) Anyway, they do overspend, and many people dislike them for it.

TC OMG i love you thank you i finally have something to say to all the Mets lovers in my school

Also the Yankees arent throwing around money they are making smart investments other then Burnett of course nobody said the Giants were throwing away money when getting Zito or Mets when getting Santana. People are just jealous the Yankees have the rich history and can spend the money because their fans help them out like that.

Your just mad becuase the Pirates never win anything :tongue: :lol: . But yeah, most people that don't like the yanks, dislike them. Very few are in-between.
