TC, I worked as a sports writer for our university newspaper for about one week, a little over a month ago. And... I learned that I was completely off the mark in terms of what I was expecting. I quit not long after.

Let me say this: If you really want to be a sports writer, you have to be willing to let your heart break every so often.

:P I'm with you on this! I cant say I dreamed of being a Customs Compliance Specialist when growing up, but thats where my career path led me. I still refuse to mentally grow up, however, and will still be playing MLBPP and other video games as long as my fingers still work. Much to my wifes dismay...

I want to be an Alaskna crab fisherman. Ever seen Deadliest Catch? That's what i want to do. Deadliest job on earth. Lose a man a week and a ship a year on average. Big, Big $$$ in it for those who catch the most crab. I do want a college degree, and as far as i know, you can't get a degree in that, so i want to be an athletic trainer (think beach volleyball  )kidding

i do actually want to get a degree in that though. I'm only in 8th, so it could (and probably will) change.

hoping by that time, my growth spurt will have finished, though i've been told it just started...

I wanted to be an engineer just like my father, so that is what I became! (and not the type that drives the train) I knew it since I was in the 7th/8th grade. I used to love to play on my dad's 286 computer with 64k of RAM, and 512k hard drive. I would hack this text based basketball game to make players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. It was a lot of fun. So what I am today is a controls lead engineer respsonsible for developing algorithms and software to run a natural gas fueled engine.

While, yes, you are catching the crab for the purpose of killing and eating them, the fisherman don't do it. The stay alive in a holding tank and are sold to distributors in Alaska. If the fisherman killed the crab on the boat, they would go bad quickly.
Edit: Here's the wiki page about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaskan_king_crab_fishing
