I thought that it might be a decent a idea to start a thread in preparation for a rival baseball game's release.

I want to know your opinion on the game.

I watched some demo videos of it, and it doesn't seem all that great. I think it went a little overboard on details - of course I'm the cartoon type of guy who would rather watch Family Guy or Tom and Jerry than something like the Sopranos. The swings of the hitters seem to quick and in the IGN demo video, the wind ripples on the jerseys kind of peeve me a little.

There are pros and cons to each game. Success mode is a huge feature that 2k8 does not have. However, power pros does not have an in depth minor league system that 2k8 does. The realistic franchise mode is better than season mode IMO. Having points being based on game performance is too unrealistic to me. The bat speed is pretty quick in power pros as well. I'm the kind of person that likes realistic graphics better than the ones in power pros.

If they can ever kill all the damn bugs in the 2K series, it might be worth the money.

Till then it's power pros all the way for me.

And I hate to say this but I wish EA still was making the MVP series, really that was the best game in a long time. (2005)

Bad news. I was going to buy 2k8 for the wii but just saw this.
:x
Wii doesn't have cards, online play, or playable minor leagues.

Keep Wii title simple, pick up and play.

Gameplay is king on the Wii. Focused on batting, pitching, throwing, running.

Neat and unique experience

Easy to pick up and play

No online roster downloads for the Wii but it will have edit for the rosters.

I've only played the demo of 2k8 but I believe Power Pros is the better of the 2. I've even stopped playing the Show 08 to play Power Pros.

I've never played 2K8 but picked up 2K7 (ppl kept telling me it was better) at the same time I picked up Power Pros. I only played 2K7 once. I didn't even finish the game. The last baseball game I played prior to 2K7 was MVP 2004. I must be gettin' old but baseball games aren't what they used to be imo until I played Power Pros. After I played a couple of games, I promptly took 2K7 back to Gamestop.

Games today, IMO, have tried to become too realistic and really lost that fun factor essence that Power Pros provides. Power Pros has that "old school" feel to it that takes me back to the baseball games I have grown to love.

Not to get off topic, but one of the best games for game control, especially batting, was Little League World Series for Nintendo. If you tap the button fast you could do a check swing. Depending on how fast you press the button you could do a 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 swing. Fairly easily too once you got the hang of it. If they could somehow incorporate that into Mlbpp, it would be just about perfect.

I completely agree, this game is the funnest game I have played in a while. When games try to get too realistic there are going to be things that people will complain about because it's not completely realistic.
