I know this is quite late, but what's wrong with the DH? I like it for two reasons:
1. It allows for pitchers to focus on their pitching. When they have to come up to the plate and worry about an at-bat, it distracts from their focus.
2. It extends the careers of players whose fielding may be slipping due to age.

Yes, and because of that, we're on pace for like twelve no-hitters this season.
