Defense Propels Knights to 3-0 Start
Nevada Knights(3-0) - 27
Baltimore Ravens(1-2) - 10

The Knights knocked off another tough foe on Sunday, this time taking down the Baltimore Ravens.

The defense was fantastic all game long, allowing just three points, as the Ravens' lone touchdown was a defensive score, and picking off Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco twice. On offense, Colin Kaepernick was excellent, throwing for 225 yards and a 65% completion rate as well as picking up 36 yards on the ground. Clinton Portis was solid (at one point he was sitting on 11 carries for 42 yards) but finished the game with just a 2.4 YPC once the Knights' play-calling got somewhat predictable late in the game. Donald Lee led the team in targets, as usual with 7. He finished with 83 yards and a touchdown.

Head Coach Rashawn Williams said this after the win:
"Kaepernick really impressed me out there. He resisted the temptation to scramble too often and showed veteran leadership. When he audibled to a pass play in the 4th and completed a 33-yarder to [wide receiver] Housh[mandzadeh], I was really proud of him."

When asked about Noel Devine's role with the team moving forward, Williams stated:
"If he plays like today, he'll play more than today."

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter
(NEV) Preston Parker catches a 13 yard pass from Colin Kaepernick for a TOUCHDOWN (2:03
(BAL) Billy Cundiff 29-yard field goal is GOOD (0:50)

2nd Quarter
(BAL) S Kindle recovers a Colin Kaepernick fumble 50 yards for a TOUCHDOWN (6:56)

3rd Quarter
(NEV) T.J. Houshmandzadeh receives a 10-yard pass from Colin Kaepernick for a TOUCHDOWN (6:59)
(NEV) Donald Lee catches a 27-yarder from Colin Kaepernick for a TOUCHDOWN (5:45)

4th Quarter
(NEV) Josh Scobee 31-yard field goal is GOOD (4:25)
(NEV) Josh Scobee 20-yard field goal is GOOD (2:33)

I think you have to create one in the creation zone then import them at the team-selection phase.

I think.

Defense, Run Game Lead Knights to 4th Win
Nevada Knights(4-0) - 34
Kansas City Chiefs(1-3) - 10

Visiting the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, the Knights were favored to win for the first time this year, with the Las Vegas odds picking them as 7 point favorites. The Knights proved they were better than even that, however, as they shut down the Chiefs on the road for a 24-point victory.

Clinton Portis showed he's still got the big-play capabilities he showed off during his years with the Broncos and Redskins, picking up 154 yards, one of which was an 89-yarder and another for 32 yards. Colin Kaepernick also demonstrated his mobility, picking up 72 yards on 7 carries and a touchdown while also throwing for 206 yards. Fullback Mike Karney even got in on the action, picking up 23 rushing yards and a 2-yard touchdown. Donald Lee and Donte' Stallworth led the receiving core, with 90 yards on 3 catches and 59 on 4, respectively.

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter
(NEV) Clinton Portis breaks off an 89-yard run for a TOUCHDOWN (11:10)
(KC) Jamaal Charles responds quickly with a 70-yard run for a TOUCHDOWN (9:38)
(KC) Ryan Succop 21-yard field goal is GOOD (5:16)
(NEV) Josh Scobee 56-yard field goal is GOOD (1:16)

2nd Quarter
(NEV) Josh Scobee 46-yard field goal is GOOD (7:46)
(NEV) Clinton Portis 1-yard run for a TOUCHDOWN (0:11)

3rd Quarter
(NEV) Colin Kaepernick runs for a 9-yard TOUCHDOWN (0:33)

4th Quarter
(NEV) Mike Karney pounds it in from the 2 yard line for a TOUCHDOWN (5:20)

Correct.

This is impossible in Madden 13 because no team creation.

Knights Get Stonewalled
Nevada Knights(4-1) - 3
Tampa Bay Buccaneers(4-1) - 27

With just 87 yards of total offense, 73 of which came via the running game, the Knights failed to get anything going against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, losing by a score of 27 to 3.

Colin Kaepernick was awful, completing just 7 out of 18 passes for a measly 55 yards with two picks. After his second interception about halfway through the fourth quarter, he was pulled in favor of Terrelle Pryor, who tossed up a few Hail Mary's that fell incomplete. Clinton Portis was perhaps the only bright spot on the Knights' miserable offense, gathering 54 yards on twelve attempts. Montrel Hopkins was weak in his first week back from injury, losing a yard on 9 carries.

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter
(TB) Colin Kaepernick is sacked in the end zone for a SAFETY (0:33)

2nd Quarter
(NEV) Josh Scobee 40-yard field goal is GOOD (5:28)

3rd Quarter
(TB) Brett Swenson 55-yard field goal is GOOD (3:51)
(TB) Steve Smith catches a 52-yard pass from Josh Freeman for a TOUCHDOWN (0:44)

4th Quarter

Knights Lose High-Scoring Affair
Nevada Knights(4-3) - 35
San Diego Chargers(2-5) - 49

The Knights have now lost three consecutive games, this time losing by 14 to the now 2-5 San Diego Chargers, who racked up 654 total yards in the game. Philip Rivers picked apart the Knights' secondary, with 251 yards and three touchdowns, while Ryan Mathews ran right through it, finishing with 175 yards and three scores.

The Knights fell behind early, going down 21-7 at the half. They began to fight back into the game, with the score at 28-21 after three quarters, but the Chargers sealed the deal with an 18-yard rushing touchdown by Ryan Mathews with 3:05 left in the game, his third of the day. Ellis Hobbs was able to return the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, but the final 2 and a half minutes went scoreless for both times.

The Knights offensive line was awful, allowing Colin Kaepernick to be sacked six times (not including the times he scrambled away from pressure). Despite this, Kaepernick finished with 15 completions on 28 attempts, 265 yards, a trio of touchdowns and just a single pick. Over the course of the game, the Knights ran only 12 run plays; Clinton Portis racked up 38 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries while Montrel Hopkins picked up 11 on 2.

The Knights still lead the AFC West, one game ahead of the 3-4 Denver Broncos and 1.5 ahead of the 3-5 Kansas City Chiefs. Next Sunday, the Knights will look to snap this three-game slide as they had to Jacksonville to take on the 2-6 Jaguars.

So... in case you couldn't tell, I increased the difficulty. The Knights are by far the worst team in the NFL, and I don't really want them to succeed just yet (although if I manage to play better, I guess they will).

Also, I decided to cut out the scoring summary, since it's kind of annoying to do and it's fairly unnecessary when the recap is present.

Do the Knights Have What it Takes?
Nevada Knights(4-4) - 7
Jacksonville Jaguars(3-6) - 28

With the rain pouring down at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, the Knights failed to score more than a single time. They took an early 7-0 lead, but by halftime the Jaguars had kicked two field goals and were within one. They scored 8 in the 3rd and another 14 in the 4th, easing into a 28-7 victory.

The Knights have continuously looked worse with each of the last few games. Sometimes, it's the offense that can't keep the team in the game. Sometimes, it's the defense. Today, it was turnovers; Colin Kaepernick threw an interception and fumbled twice, and Clinton Portis fumbled in the end zone.

It's not hard to forget last year's 4-1 start that preceded a ridiculous six straight losses before finally finishing at 7-9. This year is shaping up to be quite similar, this time starting 4-0. Although the Knights weren't expected to do much better than last year, it would be disappointing to see another failed attempt to make the playoffs after such a great start.
