Melonheads Are Going to The Ultra Grand Championship of the Universe Series
In a fantastic turn of events, the Humongous Melonheads defeated the Lumpy Gravies, eliminating a 3-1 deficit in the 5th inning on back-to-back home runs by Kiesha Phillips and Achmed Khan, capped off by an RBI double courtesy of third baseman Tony Delvecchio. Angela Delvecchio had a solid start, going 5.2 innings and giving up three runs, just two of them earned. She ended up needing a little help from Pablo Sanchez, who came in to get the final out of the 6th and ended up getting the final out with runners on first and second to record the save. The kids in green The Melonheads start the 5-game series against the Tasty Cheeses tomorrow afternoon in Southern Miami.

Melonheads Held to Just Two Hits, One Run
The Humongous Melonheads dropped game one yesterday by the score of 2 to 1. Pete Wheeler led off the bottom of the first with a home run to straightaway left field, but the only offense after that was a single by Angela Delvecchio, who got hit with the loss in just a 2 run effort. "I'm disappointed with the way i swung the bat," said left fielder and cleanup hitter Kiesha Phillips, "but we'll bounce back tomorrow with a ton of runs, I can feel it."

We'll find out in game two tomorrow.

Darn. Pablo is taking extra batting practice right now.

He'll have a big game next game!

Melonheads Even Series at One
In a solid 5-1 win yesterday, Kenny Kawaguchi and Tony Delvecchio were the stars, the former pitching six innings of one run ball, and the latter jacking two home runs to straightaway center field. After the game, we had a chat with the team's manager. "Tony was real good out there. He's earned himself the five spot in the lineup, especially since Achmed and Amir haven't been all that great." As expected, Angela Delvecchio will start on the mound.

Stats
Hitting
P. Wheeler - 1-3, R, SB, E
S. Morgan - 1-3, HR, R, RBI
P. Sanchez - 3-3, 3B, RBI
K. Phillips - 0-3
Ac. Khan - 1-3, 2B, R
Am. Khan - 0-2
T. Delvecchio - 2-2, HR(2), R(2), RBI(3)
K. Kawaguchi - 0-2
A. Delvecchio - 0-2

Pitching
K. Kawaguchi - IP(6), ER, K(5), W

Points
1st - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 26 points
2nd - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 12 points
3rd - Achmed Khan (maccrash21) - 6 points
4th - Pete Wheeler (redsfan) - 2 points
5th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 0 points

Points (total)
1st - Pablo Sancez (BrewersFuzz) - 140.7 points
2nd - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 125 points
3rd - Achmed Khan (maccrash21) - 117.3 points
4th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 111 points
5th - Pete Wheeler (redsfan) - 99.7 points

Will Tony emerge as the one to catch Pablo? Can Pete Wheeler finally climb out of last place? Will Kiesha Phillips continue to fall back? All this and more, coming in about an hour when I update again.

Melonheads Lose On Walk-Off
After taking a 4-2 lead on home runs by Pete Wheeler and Tony Delvecchio, the Melonheads gave up 3 runs in the ninth, the first on a solo home run, and the second on a walk-off two run shot. Hit off Pete Wheeler with two outs and a runner on first, the Melonheads will now have a big task ahead of them as they look to take games 4 and 5 of the series. With their backs against the wall, the Melonheads will play the Cheeses again tomorrow at 1:00. As expected, Kenny Kawaguchi will take the mound.
