Washburn traded to tigers for Luke French and Mauricio robles

Washburn is not that good, he has a good ERA THIS year. The only thing I like about him is control. If not everything else about him is either average or below average.

Jacobye, do you think giving up a future pitcher that has proven to be good for a catcher /1B while waiting for the offense with wake up and to inspire Big Papi. This might work, but I don't think giving up a guy who throws a no hitter. Think about it. If Dice-K doesnt wake up, Smoltz and Wakefield retires, Penny doesnt seem anybetter, you are only left with Beckett and Lester. There is 3 unreliable pitchers (Smoltz, Wake, Penny) that are either going to retire or just disapear. Smoltz is going to retire. Wakefield is unreliable, seriously, and you know that. Penny is not the same Penny years ago. Dice-K misses Japan's training methods. Bad Trade if it were to go through.

Wakefield can pitch till age 50. I don't see him retiring anytime soon, even at his advanced age.

Wakefield has a good many years, well maybe 4+
I don't really like Penny, we can't afford to have all of these 5 inning starts
Smoltz has a big start tonite to show that he can still pitch
Dice-K is.. I don't know. I'm predicting that he's done for the season and he's kinda pissed off the team by saying that he doesn't like the red sox training stuff he has to do and he says that he needs to throw a lot more pitches in sessions

I would love Martinez, and if we get him them it's likely through a 3 way trade somehow involving LaRoche because Martinez can be a 1B and he can catch and then we can send Kottaras down and have either him or varitek catch wakefield

the only starter I would want is halladay and we have the depth to do that but our depth is in question as Smoltz isn't effective, dice- k is out for a long time, wakefields on the dl, but when we're all set then this stuff works thanks to bowden/bucchol

edit: Wakefield is just a 4 or 5th starter, he's equivalent to Andy pettite but he's been reliable this year

He throws a knuckleball. That is a very unreliable pitch. I don't think he has the stamina for pitching till 50. Wakefield is on and off, in other words, inconsistant. If they trade Clay, they will be giving up alot. Their rotation will not have alot of dept next year. They should keep their best pitching prospect for the future. Trust me, it is like seeing Phil Hughes and Joba go for Halladay.

He's a 4th or 5th starter, he doesn't need to be great, his knuckleball has kept his ERA somewhere over 4 over the last 3 years which is all you can ask for from a bottom of the rotation starter

and we also have masterson and junichi and tazawa as well

It is Junichi Tazawa. 1 person. Masterson is average......Tazawa has proven himself in the major league. Yes, but next year, in the worst case scenario, Wakefield will be the 3rd starter, assuming you get V-Mat. Yes, no duh.

But if it's a 3 way deal and we give up less, if we give up buccholz AND bowden them I really wouldn't like this deal

Maybe. Watch MLB Network (there's a live feed on MLB.com) to view all the trades. Not advertising.
