Tony played games on his phone while Mr. Smith was in the office. He deleted Flappy Bird, because he couldn’t get more than 3. He could hear several kids making fun of the nose-picking kid. When Mr. Smith got into the room, the kids froze, but Mr. Smith still caught on. “What’s your name?” he asked the kid, who mumbled something. “And how old are you?” The kid mumbled something else. Mr. Smith brought him up to the front of the class. “This here is Simon. He is only twelve years old, and he is probably smarter than all of you.” Simon sat back down. After school, Tony went to football practice. The huge kid and the two-color mohawk kid were there, and to his surprise, so was Simon. It was a no-contact, no-pads practice, as it would be for the first three weeks, due to the new rules. Since it was a no-contact practice, they worked on special teams. Tony took out a kicking tee and a ball, and started working on his kickoffs. A couple kids went deep to work on catching kicks. A couple others went over to work on catching punts from…Simon. I thought I was the kicker and punter, Tony thought. After practice, everyone went in the locker room to shower. Simon sat by his assigned locker, not moving a muscle.

Cordelia tried to start a conversation with him, but when she showed him her book, he grabbed at it angrily, stated that he hated books, and stormed off. After school, she ran a bit, then hung around, filling out a couple college applications. She had finished two of them when a familiar figure approached her. “Hey,” he said. “Well, hello there, you golden-haired twig,” she replied. Alex put a hand over his chest and gasped, but then laughed it off. “Whatcha doin’?” he asked Cordelia. “Applying to colleges,” she said. Alex posed a question in return.

Cassie turned and ran back the way she had come in. She heard a friendly-sounding laugh behind her. Someone was standing in the back of the room, laughing. “Gotcha!” said a young-faced boy. He flipped a switch, and Cassandra could see the inflatable figure that she had thought was a solid, fat object. “I’m Pelican, by the way. You should probably get to class,” the tall, extremely lanky boy said. “I’m Cass. I guess I’ll go now?” She left and got to class just in time to review her schedule: Honors English 11, US History, Pre-Calculus, and Physics.

He ran out of the bathroom after he heard shuffling in one of the stalls. His next class was Government, but all they did was have a mock debate about whether vanilla or chocolate ice cream was better. After school, Ben went to football practice. He got in the line to try out as a quarterback. The coaches kept pointing at him and talking to each other. He figured they wanted him to be a lineman, but he showed them by throwing almost perfectly throughout the entire drill. After practice, he showered and returned home to his evil sister.

He then pulled his clothes off of Jeffrey and put them on quickly. When Jeffrey came to, it was almost noon. “Where’d the bus go? And why do I feel so weird? And why the heck am I laying in the front yard in my underwear?” he screamed. Jeffrey went inside and up to his room, and lay down to sleep. Little did he know that he would end up sleeping for 20 hours.

Jordyn decided to have fun, but she was simply too good, and the coaches put her on the team. “We wanted someone who could have some fun playing the game, anyways,” Coach Denson told her. After practice, she went home and took a quick shower, then opened her English book. They were supposed to read the prologue over the next two nights, but Jordyn figured she might as well get it over with. Not a minute had gone by before John walked into the room in his swimsuit. “I’m ready,” he said. “For what- oh, swim practice, right,” she said. Jordyn drove him to the brand-new town pool. “I’ll pick you up in an hour,” she said, messing with his hair. John stepped out of the car, put his brand-new goggles over his eyes, and ran into the building.
