What is this sorcery?

And I guess you aren't getting JPPY after all, I gather?

I'm pretty sure I'm getting it from my dad for Christmas. But the more I watch and read about these other games, my excitement for those games rise while my excitement for JPPY lowers. I feel as though I'l barely play JPPY, as least for the first month or two, or three

I mean, yeah, I'll have it. I'm just not sure how much I'll use it. Games like Portal 2, Sly Cooper, and Assassin's Creed, among others, look way more appealing at the moment

Yeah, the thing is, I can't play any violent games. Just sports games...

Portal 2 is violent?

You just have to dig deeper. Like I was telling Anthony, check out Portal 2. Sure, you have a gun, but it's a portal gun, that shoots portals, and is really epic. I mean Portal is just a puzzle game. Little Big Planet is also a puzzle game, where you get to customize almost everything.

And then there are platformers (specifically 3D platformers) that are fantastic. You have more classical ones such as Crash and Spyro. You also have more recent ones like Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper.

Crash and Spyro will keep you entertained for months. It'll likely take you other 20 hours to 100% each game, times that by 6 games, you have way more than 120 hours of play time. Crash is more you go along a trail avoiding hazards and enemies to reach an object at the end. Spyro is more so jumping from platform to platform to take out enemies and pick up items along the way. You can get each game for only $10 on the PSN

The other three series all have subtle similarities, but also extreme differences that set each other apart and make them awesome. Ratchet & Clank has cool weapons (not real or violent ones, just cool) that you can use. Sly Cooper is all about stealth and sneaking around. And I don't remember what it was about Jak & Daxter, but I know there was something. All of the trilogy's have been remastered in HD to purchase. Plus, R&C is still going strong, while Sly has just received a reboot (available in February). J&D on the other hand, is over...

And are your parents against anything deemed "violent" or just rated M games?

God, I hate it when parents are like that. All restrictive and such.

Censorship is bullshit.

Sadly, since I can't update my firmware, I can't get on PSN. But I could buy some games like Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.

Well, I mean, some games are rated M for a reason. And releasing a child into the world of violent video games too early does have its consequences. I think I just found a poll idea!

Some video games (God of War comes to mind) I can sort of understand. But, ultimately, sheltering one from the unforgiving hell that is the real world only hurts them later.

Grand Theft Auto is the only M game my mom won't let me get. Speaking of games (not that we never were) Far Cry 3 is supposed to be like Skyrim with guns

But introducing a kid to CoD to early results is swearing and insulting religions while on Xbox live...

But that's not the game's fault. That's the God-awful community's fault.

Seriously, the things people say on XBOX Live (and other forms of online gaming, too) are appalling. That really needs to be cleaned up somehow.
