Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled about the five year contract. 4 years fine, but 5s too many. I'd prefer Lowe or Sheets for 3, or better yet Burnett for 3.

If they'd offer 3 Burnett wouldn't have accepted. That simple.

I know. That's why I wish they went for sheets.

Sheets can be like Burnett. He is an injury waiting to happen. Sheets probably would have been a better choice beacause he doesn't get injured as much as Burnett I believe.

I also could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he get's injured a little more. Still, I'd prefer 3 years with a guy who gets injured so much, then seeing if your prospect can take over and if not, signing someone else or resiging them.

Burnett has a history of not getting hurt when there's money on the table. Sheets is just fragile. Compare the Burnett deal with the Penny deal: $8 million for one year vs. $82.5 million for five years? And they're both injury risks. I think Boston got the better side of this.

I'm quite happy with the Penny signing. He's always been one of those pitchers I thought was cool and have a habit of playing well with him on MLB:PP, he's a good 4th starter choice while Buchholz gets his act together and Bowden/Masterson improve a little more in the bullpen.

Sure Sheets is a great player and I would've loved to get him but i'll trust Theo on this one. We better get one hell of a draft pick out of this.

Whoa!!! What's this!?!?!

The Red Sox are in talks of getting Hanley Ramirez back. But talks are it. I hope they get him, but I was looking forward to seeing Jed Lowrie play next year....

Unfortunately we were in talks for Hanley but it didn't work out and the whole thing has been aborted now. I would have liked to get him but I hear the asking price was Ellsbury and Buchholz which i'm not too sure about when we already have Lowrie there,

We've signed Bard though.

Why are you always so pro-red sox mate? Aren't you a Rays fan (not questioning your loyalty haha), why do you want them to do well? Don't you want em' both to crash and burn haha.
I like the Rays, but that's because I like that type of clutch, low pay-roll team. I don't wish the Sox well by any means.

I live outside of Boston, so I hear all the news, and I always have to "pretend" I'm a Sox fans.

But I always check on the Rays news.

And yes, I heard their asking price was them, to much...

Hanley has the 5 tools while Lowrie doesn't. The Sox traded him for Lowell and Beckett.

The Sox shouldn't give them Ellsbury, period. He has to good a career ahead of him, and so shouldn't Buchholz.

I and besides Lowrie should be good.

I suppose if they did get him, have him play SS while put Jed at 3rd and work on it throughout the year, beacause Lowell's getting old.

Yeah, but Hanley for Ellsbury? If it was that simple, I'd trade him in a heartbeat. But I know that won't happen. I doubt Hanley will come back, he was only in the system for a short time. Both sides benifited and got more then they expected.

No, he is was in the Sox's farm system a lot longer than I think you are thinking.

Ellsbury for Ramirez would be a steal, but the Marlins can get WAY more than that.

Trust me, it was more than just Ellsbury and Clay.
