I decided to make a dive, so I dove.
The ball somehow landed in my glove, and I threw to first from my knees.
It was good.
Phew. (+3)

Well, that was good, thankfully I got through that.
"Murphy, well done!" Coach yelled to me
I was caught off guard, but happy he said it nonetheless.
I put my hand up, signifying a thank you.

The rest of practice went fairly quick.
I stroked some nice liners during batting practice, and my knee didn't bother me too much during baserunning.

I went home, laid down and took a nice nap.

Tomorrow's finally Saturday.
What a long week this has been.

What should I do? (It will go up 40 every morning, unless bad sleep)
A. Hang out with Jack (vitality -40)
B. Nothing, absolutely nothing (vitality +20)
C. Practice (vitality - 50)
D. Futz around (Vitality +/- ?)

So, it's Sunday, and, like we usually do, my parents and I went on a day trip.

It was pretty fun.

School was what it always was, kinda a drag, but finally, baseball was back. And, week two was just around the corner!
William drove Jack, Richardson and I to the field as he usually did, coach was already there, which was odd, since he's usually late.
"Hey coach" William said as we walked over to the field.
"Hey guys, you're the first ones here, how about some catch to warm-up." coach said
"Alright," Will said, "let's get going."
We walked over to right field, and I played some catch with Jack.
People slowly started to filter in, with Lawrence being the last of them.

Everyone got to playing some catch, and 15 minutes later, coach called us over.
"Alright everybody, take a knee."
We all took a knee.
"Tomorrow's our first game, so today's practice is going to be pretty light. We're going to primarily be focusing on hitting today. Alright? Alright. Let's go! Murphy, you're first."

Like usual, I was first.
I went in the dugout, grabbed a helmet, my batting gloves, Jack's bat, and walked up to the plate. Mitchell Marsala was pitching to me, he's nothing special.

"Murphy, just concentrate, you'll get 10 swings, alright? So only swing at pitches you think you can hit." Coach yelled from third

Mitchell wound up for his first pitch

What do I do?
A. Wait for my pitches, meticulously watching each one (+3, -?)
B. Swing for the fences each time (+4, -?)
C. Swing at things around the plate, and hope for the best (+5, -5)
D. Swing at anything (+3, -7)

I watched each pitch very carefully, and before I knew it, I had taken 5! (-1)
But, after that, i started swinging, and hit 6 solid line drives, a pop up, 2 groundouts, and missed on one. (+3)
Overall, I think that I did fairly decent.

Jack was next to go, and he hit 8 linedrives, all to right, and missed on 2 of them.

Lawrence went after him, and he got a hit on 9 of his 10 swings.

The rest of the team went afterwards.
I feel bad for the poor chaps who had to face Richardson, all 3 of them accounted for 2 hits.

The whole team went up to the mound after Lorenzo Freeman, the catcher, was done.
"Alright guys, you all did well. Richardson, try and tone it down next practice, alright?" Coach said
Richardson nodded.
"So, tomorrow's our first game. I hope you're all ready for this. Now, you all get home, eat a nice dinner, and get some rest. Let's start this season out right!" Coach rallied the whole team
"But, before you guys go, here's the lineup for tomorrow:

1. Jack Kent - LF
2. Lawrence Marlin - 3B
3. William Cruz - SS
4. Bryan Murphy - 2B
5. Charles Davis - RF
6. Lorenzo Freeman - C
7. Russell Edmond - 1B
8. Phil Butler - CF
9. Michael Richardson - P

We'll be playing a pretty tough team tomorrow, one of the best in the state. It's not gonna be a cakewalk, that's for sure. Richardson, you've got to hold them. And everyone else, just forcus on basehits. Don't try and be a hero." Coach told the team
"Well, see you tomorrow guys."

We all went over to the bench, grabbed our things, and made our way to the parking lot. "I'm batting cleanup! Awesome! It's good to see that coach still has faith in me." I thought to myself as I was walking back.
William drove Jack, Michael (Richardson), and I home.
"Hey honey, how was practice?" My mother asked as I walked in the door.
"Nice and easy, just how I like it!" I responded with glee

I laid down on the coach, and got myself mentally prepared for an excellent nap.
Just as I was dozing off, "Bryan, don't you have homework to do?"
I opened my eyes to see my mother's face.
I screamed a little bit inside of my head.
"Aw, crap, I totally forgot. I do have homework. I think..."
I went over to my backpack, checked my agenda book, and saw, written large in red pen, and circled, "ALGEBRA TEST TOMORROW, 8.1-8.3, STUDY!!!!!!"
Well, damn.

I went up to my room, took a look at my bed, so comfy.
Took a look at my desk, so uncomfy.
My bag was in tow, I dropped it on the floor.

What did I do?
A. Reward my efforts in practice with a nice nap
B. Homework.......... And then study
C. Study, and then homework
D. Do nothing, blame internet, vow to never do such a thing again, then proceed to do it again

I decided to do my homework before I got to studying, but I was half-doing my homework at best.
By the time I finished it, it was already 9:57, but I decided to truck on through my studying.

That didn't go over so well, as I was about 20 minutes into studying, my head fell to my book, and I was out cold.
Asleep for the night.
Shoot.

March 26

I woke up in a pool of drool on my book.
"Awesome. Probably permanent water damage... Oh well, hopefully no one will notice." I thought to myself.
I checked the clock, 7:18, crap.

I quickly changed into school worthy clothing, rushed downstairs, yelled to my mom "We've got to go!"
"Why, what time is it?" she responded
"7:20! Let's go!"

We headed off to her car, and made the 7 minute ride down to my school. I got there just in the nick of time, making it to my first period class mere seconds before the bell.
"Made it just in time, Mr. Murphy. I was beginning to think you weren't going to make it." My first period teacher, Mr. Dooley said, as I took a seat at my lab table.
Biology rushed by, and when I was leaving the class, I noticed I wasn't paying attention at all, choosing to take the route of staring at Ashley Burns for a majority of the class. Oh well, it was worth it.

Next period was Algebra, and my test was approaching.
Ooh boy.
I took my seat, the second seat in the second column, behind my good, crutched, friend, Aram.

The bell rang.
"Alright, kids, I'll be passing out the test now, no talking." my teacher said.

I was handed the test, looked at it in disbelief, cried a little bit, entered the fetal position, and watched the deserted desert road roll on forever inside of my head.
I'm soooo screwed, I thought to myself.
The answers I put down were non-sensible, I passed it in with a minute left, and hoped for the best nonetheless.

The rest of the day was fairly easy though, so that was nice.

The final bell rang, and I was off to the locker room once again.
I met up with Jack along the way and saw Lawrence holding the door for us.
"Hey guys." He said
"Hey Lawrence." I replied

We walked into the locker room, got changed, and started to wait for the bus.
Coach came outside, and saw us waiting, "Alright guys, first game, this is big too, we're playing the Walt Whitman High School Vikings. Walt Whitman is known for their athletics. So, this won't be easy. I want to see everyone give it their all, and show nothing less than 100%!" he said to us in a makeshift pep-talk in front of the school.

"Provide some runs for me, and I'll get the job done." Richardson added in afterwards.
The funny thing was, even though he's a freshman, no one questions what he says, he is, no doubt, the best pitcher on the team. So, he's right, if we provide him with runs, we've got a good chance to win.

At that point, the bus came, and we were off on our 10 minute ride to Bethesda.

When we got there, we played catch for about 10 minutes, stretched out some, and then the game began.
Both Jack and Lawrence got on with singles, and William struck out.
I came up to the plate with 1 out, and runners on 1st and 2nd.

The pitcher for the Vikings was nothing short of amazing. His slider and curveball both got shown off during William's at-bat. They were ridiculous.
Also, his fastball was tough for even Lawrence to hit.

I stepped up into the left side of the plate, and prepared myself for some live pitching.

What do I do?
A. Swing at the first pitch, if it looks like it's in the zone (+?, -?)
B. Wait on the fastball (+?, -?)
C. Wait on curveball (+?, -?)
D. Wait on slider (+?, -?)
E. Look for a walk (+0, -2)

I decided that I would wait on the fastball.
The first pitch the Viking's pitcher threw was a curveball that dropped out of the zone.
He wound up for the second pitch.
It rocketed out of his hand, a fastball!
I took my swing, and just as I did, it broke, it was a slider, I ended up grounding out to the first baseman, but Jack made it home, luckily.
The score was 1-0. (+7)
When I got back to the dugout, I was met with a brigade of high-fives, and "Good job"s.
"Got him in, well done Murphy." Coach said to me.
Jack walked in, and was handed the same ordeal.

Skip forward to the bottom of the 6th, the Vikings have a runner on first, and one out.
Their 3-hole hitter came up, a strong left-handed pull hitter.
He swung at Richardson's first offering, a curve.
It was a rocket to the left of me.

What did I do?
A. Dive and make the throw to second if I'm to get to it (+?, -?)
B. Dive and make the throw to first if I'm to get to it (+?, -?)
C. Let it go by (+?, -?)
D. Dive and try for the catch (+?, -?)

I made a dive, and snowconed the ball.
I took the safe route, and made the throw to first for the out, making the situation a runner on second with 2 out. (+3)
Richardson struck out the next batter.

It's now the top of the 7th, and I'm leading off this inning. Their starter is still in, so I've still got to worry about that slider of his.

I walked up to the plate, took a practice swing, stepped in the box, and readied myself for his first pitch.

He wound up, and fired a fastball that I watched as it flew by.
Strike one.
He threw his next pitch, a curveball, I swung and hit an easy popup to the first baseman.
"Damn." I said
"Don't worry about it, it's all good." Coach said to me in the dugout
Davis and Freeman both struck out, and we were to take the field for the final time in this game.

Richardson quickly got the first out with a strike out, and the second out was a groundout to William at short.

And then came up their sixth hitter came up, a skinny kid, quick on his feet, and a hell of a bunter.
And wouldn't you know, he bunted.
The throw from Lawrence was a step too late, as he beat it out.
Next pitch, he stole second.
Richardson took notice, and proceeded to throw 3 balls in a row, forcing a full count.
Coach went out to talk to him, and we all went to the mound as well.
"Michael, what's up?" Coach said
"Nothing coach, my control's just a little off, that's all" Richardson said in return
"Alright, well, this'll be your last pitch. You're already up to 87 for the game, and Clark's all ready to come into the game. Make this count."
"Okay coach."

Coach clapped, left the mound, and Richardson looked in for the sign from Freeman.
He wound up, and the kid on started for third.
Michael fired in a fastball, and their sixth hitter hit a nice easy grounder to William at short, he threw it to first, and the game was over.
We won!

We took the bus back home, I got my stuff, and hopped into my mother's van.
"How'd you do?" she asked
"I didn't get any hits, but I drove in the only run of the game!" I replied, elated
"Good job honey!"
"Thanks!"

We drove home, I took a shower, ate some dinner, and cracked open my backpack to check if I had homework.
And I did.

What do I do?
A. Do the homework (-10 vitality)
B. Don't do the homework
C. Go to bed (Max vitality)
