Selig messed up the draw by putting the Beijing gold winner, 06 WBC champs and Cuba in the same bracket. Both teams that came out of the opposite bracket get manhandled in the semis, and fans get treated to the 5th Japan/Korea matchup of this tournament.

It wasn't a draw, it was more of a bracket, and it is really messed up. 5 matchups in ONE tournament? Not even in the worst made of tournaments. They should have mixed them like this:

Pool 1:
- Pool A Winner
- Pool B Runner-up
- Pool C Winner
- Pool D Runner-up

Pool 2:
- Pool B Winner
- Pool A Runner-up
- Pool D Winner
- Pool C Runner-up

That way you ensure that 2 rivals from the same first round pool would not see each other until maybe the final match. It seems kind of suspicious that 3 of the 4 best teams and the team that eliminated USA were all in the same pool. That's the kind of thing that raises eyebrows when analyzed.

That was so dumb pitching to Ichiro... you KNOW after seven pitches, he'd eventually get a hit. He should have intentionally walked him there, from the beginning of the at-bat actually.

Darvish sets new record for K's in the WBC. Ichiro gets 4 hits with 2 crucial RBI's, but Matsuzaka is the MVP again, wow. BTW, MLB teams, you have learnt not to pitch to Ichrio in Clutch situations.

Ironic how Ichiro has Clutch 1 in MLBPP '07.

Ichiro was having a bad tournament. He'd been leaving a ton of men on base up to that point, so you can't just look at that one at-bat, through it was a crucial one, and say it was a mistake. Nakajima and Aoki had been much more dangerous at the plate.

Wow I guess I missed a good game
Korea tied it on a homer with 2 outs in the 9th and Japan won it on a 2-run single by Ichiro

Edit: Korea tied it on a 2-out rbi single, not homer

the manager of Korea took the gamble and it cost him the game. i did the same thing in my last season game on powerpros. tied 1-1 vs the angels late in the game. RISP with Vlad at the plate and 1st base open. i decided to pitch to him and he knocks in the winning runs. sometimes you want to take the chance thinking "if i can only get this last strike!" of course you will be praised and everyone will think you made the right choice if it works, but more often then not the clutch players will make you pay. 8)

Acutally, since the count was 2-2, he could have thrown a ball down into the dirt or high above the strikezone to strike out Ichiro, but off course, Ichiro is hard to be K'ed

The Korean manager said in the postgame interview that he wanted the pitcher to pitch around Ichiro; Either give him 1B or get him to swing at a bad pitch. He said the pitcher misread the sign or decided to ignore him, but it sounds like a lame excuse when that AB had been going on for 8 pitches.

Yeah, that sounded fishy.

I was surprised that the Japanese manager left his starter in for so long. I understand he was pitching well, but he looked gassed in the 8th, eventually allowing Korea's second run. What the point of having two guys warm up in the bullpen then?

Yeah, I even before the 8th I believe Iwakuma was allowing hard-hit balls and walks but was saved by the left-fielder's assist at second base and a base stealer being thrown out. I would have gone to Sugiuchi after the 6th for three innings.
