Really? I guess not then. It seems like a very strange decision with the red sox, especially after releasing Mirabeli. Nevermind haha, it was all in my paranoid head.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west............

East = amazing
West= not so much especially for the NL

Everybody will be watching which AL East team will win because they are all amazing while watching NL West to see which team can end up being average.

Yanks: Buying their way to being great, but still good
BoSox: Good team
Rays: breakout year, good, but not amazing, who knows where they will be
Jays: Decent
Orioles: consistent last-placers, not very good

if i were the yanks i would trade Matsui to a week team looking for good hitting(Giants, Reds, Royals, etc.) mabye for some bullpen pitching or some prospects. Then sign Manny to a $68million 3yr deal to play DH. He has no signs of slowing down at all so thats y i like him. Either way there gonna be dominate next year=]

Well, there's a lot of variables to success. I think it's too early. It's December! Come on!

A lot of you guys are too young to understand just how cyclical this all is. The '70s were dominated in the early part of the decade by the AL West (Oakland), then the NL West in the middle years (Cincinnati), then the AL East in the latter part of the decade (New York).

In the '80s the best teams were in the NL (East - St. Louis, West - L.A.) while the AL was pretty pathetic until the late '80s when the AL West became dominant (WS winners KC and Minnesota were AL West, as was the best team in baseball in '87-'90 (Oakland). The big exception to that was the '84 Tigers. But oh yeah, the NL West won the WS in '88 and '90 (L.A., Cincinnati) even though Oakland was the better team. After 1981 the Yankees basically sucked until about 1995. After 1978 the Red Sox mostly sucked until '86, and then after that they sucked for many more years. I was in Fenway during a lot of losing seasons -lol-

The '90s came around and you had various AL teams and the NL West (Atlanta) until the Yankees put it together in '96 and started the run the AL East has been on. While the Red Sox and Yankees have been the dominant franchises over the last dozen years, eventually their bubbles will burst again and other franchises will take their place on top for awhile. That's just the way it goes.

Well said, to put it simply, every team will suck eventually while every team will have it's glory.

The Yankees did alot, but evetually C.C, Tex, Burnett etc. will leave the Yankees and retired and same with A-Rod, Jeter, and they won't be good.

Evetually, Papi will retire, Lowell will be gone, youk will be gone, and the Red Sox won't be good.

The O's prospects will develop and will be good one day and the Rays will be good too.

It's the same thing for all the other divisions. The good teams will fall and have to rebuild while the bad teams will rise.

To add to Wyl:

Bad teams stock up on prospects, while good teams trade their's for good players. Evetually, all these good players retire, and the good teams become bad, while the bad teams become good.

Then the Bad teams are the ones that are now good trading away prospects whille the good teams are now the bad teams stocking up prospects to be good again.

A rather vicious cycle.

And yes, even the Nationals will be good one day.

Oh that explains why the yankees didn't win the world series for such a long time.

But the good teams have leftover money because of fans buying up their jerseys, World Series Champions memorabilia, etc. so they can be good again. Eventually, however, as DrMario and Wyl said, eventually the good teams will make a bad choice on spending money, and they will be bad again. Simple.

Very well said Whyl. Now overall, it can be expected that richer teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, ect. will be better off and have more winning seasons and world series. It is much easiar to rebuild when your wallet is a little fatter. None the less, it does go in cycles. And when your in the midst of it, a team with A-Rod, CC, Sabathia, Mariano, Posada, Jeter, Joba, Wang, Burnett, Ect. seems to good to be true, but it's really not. Yeah it's a fantastic team and probably the best right now, but it still can't hold a torch to the best teams in the game. Great teams of course do devolop like this all the time, if you'd want to call this great.

If you compare this to the early 1960s Yankees, Big Red Machines, Murders Row, and even the recent 1998s Yanks, it doesn't even hold a torch. So it's not the end of baseball by any means. Its simply a highly improved team that has a chance at being great, but unlikely fantastic in the scheme of things.

Hope I added a little and didn't just regurgitate what you all said haha.

Well apple, yes the good teams have more money, but since the fanbase will melt due to not as good teams the money flow will go down, while the bad teams fanbase grows and get more money.

Exactly, the Yankees are a scary team now, but soon this team will be gone, and the Rays, Jays, and O's will rise. Evetually the Yankees and Sox will finish in last place, and their rivalry will go down while say a Ray's and Jay's rivarly boils up.

Eventually, the Good teams run out of prospects and don't get more prospects beacause they are building from Free Agency while bad teams build from the draft. The bad teams let their good players become free agents so when a good team signs it, they get draft picks so they can build from the draft.

And once again, Wyl very well said.

Thanks for saying I said my thing well too in my above post cownip....

Sorry, I didn't even see it, I just saw Whyl's. It was haha.
Anyway, not quite. The Yankees are a good team, but there not that good in the scheme of things, just probably the best. They haven't even played 1 game, they just look very good. They did two or three years a go too. Now, the Yankees and Red Sox won't necesarily fall at the same time, and of course the Jays, Os and "Rays" won't all be good at the same time, they'll all have there good times and bad times. Now I put Rays in quotes because there already so good and in my mind, better then the Red Sox. I'd say it will be the Yankees or Rays who win the division. Also, the Blue Jays are a good team who could contend in most divisions. They just have three of the best teams in the game (if not the three best) in the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox. And the Orioles have a great offense, if they can get some not terrible pitching (I think it was the worst or second worst last year), they could be a 500 team. I think at this point, were all just sayin' the same thing.

You can say the Rays are a great team, but it pains me to say they aren't as good as the Sox YET. If they make a run for the playoffs again then they will be good as them if not better.

They had one good year, it doesn't mean anything until they do it again. They just need to make the playoffs to prove it.
