At least Votto made it. I didn't really cale about the AL that much, but i agree Swisher did not deserve to go. Konerko should have made it instead.

And yes, I wanted Votto to win, even though i'm a fan of a rival team. But he's putting up pretty r0xx0r numbers...

I agree, of all my years watching baseball, these are the worst All Star rosters yet.

So, who's gonna e-mail Selig to tell him to change the voting?

Can you guys stop giving so much hate towards the managers?

You think it is so easy to put together 32 men onto a roster. How about you try it? Including managing the game itself. It's not easy to be a manager and this is going to be just another one of those instances when they made bad decisions. Cmon guys everyone makes a wrong decision at somepoint in their lifes. No one is even close to perfect. Just because some players do not deserve the all star spot, you guys don't have to hate on them. They would feel aweful if they read this. Also, it was not their fault that they got voted in. Remember the players have a say in who the reserves are. They voted for them. You cannot blame this whole process on the manager. The whole point of the all star game is for publicity. Bud Sulig wants more people to watch/attend the all star game so that MLB makes money. The logic is that if the majority of the people get their favorite/most deserved player onto the field, they already make money from that. iTunes offers the game for download for $2. The whole point of an all star game is mostly for revenue.

I'm sorry if you guys feel offended but you've to think more than what you want than what other people want. Somedays you get it somedays you don't.

Who said it was all the managers' faults? I believe it is just as bad on the fans as it is on the managers.

If this game is going to be a popularity contest, as Me + Lucy defends above, then it should be an exhibition with no real-season fallout. Instead, it decides home advantage for the WS. So, to take the manager analogy further, the manager is handcuffed by disgusting fan votes (Jason Heyward??) into having something OTHER than the best 32 guys he could have. He then has to manage partly like an exhibition (try to get everyone playing time!!) while also playing for keeps (to avoid his league's ire when they lose home field advantage for 1 game of the WS).

This hybrid we have now, of fan voting (up to 20 times per email address!!!!11!11!1one!!) along with manager selections, handcuffed by one rep per team, resulting in a game that both matters, and has to be played like it doesn't, and yet is used to determine bonuses and playoff advantage - it just doesn't make sense. Make it one way or the other - best players by WAR or some actual, quantifiable means (weighted fan, manager, and player votes) actually playing for WS home field advantage, OR an exhibition with fan popularity contests so Jeter, Teix and Swisher can be on the field despite completely not deserving it.
