Brewers would not give up Fielder for Ortiz and Lowell combined. You need prospects and mabye your lead off hitter. Fielder is way too young and has too much potential.

I'd go for Adrian Gonzalez over Fielder easily.
Maybe even Tex, since nobody's ever gettin' Pujols.

I like Brown, just beacuse he can develop his power to be as good as Kottaras's, and his defense is much better.

Sports Illustrated (Not Kids) gave a "modest proposal" that the Brewers should trade away Prince Fielder since they have another big-hitting prospect on the way.

They should just move back to the AL.

His legs arnt that bad. He did hit a ITPHR 2 years ago.

He's never played that position before, ever.

Signing Iwamura worked out great for the Rays, but I'd argue players from Japan are a much bigger risk than signing a proven free agent (who's played in the MLB).

While someone like Iwamura came moderately priced (around $4 million posting + $7 million salary), a top tier pitcher like Daisuke Matsuzaka will cost the Red Sox over $100 million ($50 million posting + $50-60 million in salary) for a six year contract. Remember what happened after the Red Sox scored that huge coup by signing Daisuke? A couple weeks later, the Yankees, not to be outdone by their arch rival, threw almost $50 million ($26 million posting + $20 million salary) at Kei Igawa. Both moves were pretty balsy considering that neither guy had pitched one inning in the MLB before.

Two years later, Daisuke has made the transition to a top-tier MLB pitcher while Igawa was bumped to the minors in 2008, dropped from the 40 man roster in the summer, and is currently the only guaranteed contract player in the Yankees organization not on the 40 man roster. As of April 2009, Igawa is playing for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (the Yankees' AAA affiliate).

So what does this all mean, you ask?

Well, for every success story (like Daisuke Matsuzaka and Iwamura), there are almost as many failures (like Kei Igawa and Hideki Irabu). In other words, signing Japanese players is expensive and extremely risky. It's probably a big reason why there are only a handful of Japanese players in the MLB at any one time.

Some things that would never happen but I have done in season mode....

trade Well's massive contract for Rays younger and cheaper Upton.

Move Rollins and 11g points to Washington for Zimmerman

Also pickedup dogers 1b Loony? for overby and someone else. with loney? and hanley as 1 2 in bating order gives me lots of speed right off and with loney clutch hitting of 5 works well if hanley gets to 2b.


a few others things but thats a start....mainly triming payroll to start off. Moving Jays to NL is a chang of pace that would never happen but fun to play.
