USA looks poised for the loss right now. And Adam Dunn has done downright AWFUL out there in right field

Selig messed up the draw by putting the Beijing gold winner, 06 WBC champs and Cuba in the same bracket. Both teams that came out of the opposite bracket get manhandled in the semis, and fans get treated to the 5th Japan/Korea matchup of this tournament.

It's safe to say that Japan and Korea are just going to dominate in every baseball classic but why do they play 5 times? That's kind of boring

He was good offensivly this baseball classic, but he cannot play defense at all. I hate to put blame on him but we couldve kept them to 3 or 4 less runs with Victorino out there instead of Dunn

Anything can happen in just a few years as both teams have displayed in 2006 and the olympics, especially with that extra year we have to wait for the next tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if unknown teams like Australia and Taipei become powerhouses in that time and face off in the finals. I totally agree that this years current setup needs corrections. With double elimination rounds, you have redundant and meaningless games with teams already making it to the next round while others go 2 and out. Round robin seemingly would be more efficient. One things for sure, as long as tonight's game is close, there will be no shortage of excitement and energy as fans of the Nippon league will contest to. Dodger stadium will echo and thunder like it never has before.

They used a round-robin format in the 2006 WBC. They had to use a long list of tie-breaking procedures in the first two rounds that no one could remember. Then it ended up with the losers in the semis (Korea, Dominican Republic) having better records than the finalists (Japan, Cuba). That doesn't seem fair.

With the double-elimination format in the 2009 WBC, it's much simpler. You lose two games in either of the first two rounds, you're out. The tournament winner will end up with the most wins overall. That aspect sounds fine to me.

Are you watching the final? It's far from boring.

Also, the dude who got hit in the head with a pitch the other night got hit the head tonight sliding into second -- breaking his helmet in one place and cracking it in two other places.

I saw that slide tonight! OUCH!

One out, runner on first in the bottom of the ninth. I'm not rooting for either team, but I'd love to see Korea walk off and defeat Japan.
