Plus, if he stopped taking them a while ago, then there wasn't much to lose. Same with Petite. The real brave guy was Giambi, who managed to pass test. His whole career was based on it and he was still taking it, while A-Rod didn't need them that much. He stopped right away, and that took a whole lot of courage. Now don't get me wrong, I'm proud of A-Rod, that was the right thing to do. Now the Yankees are in much better shape and he'll have the support of at least the New York fans. If they turned against him and booed, then that would be hell for him

Well, I'm glad he admitted it. But sadly, he still cheated but I will have to think if I will think of him as the home run king if/when he beats it.


And no matter what you guys say, this REALLY hurts his chances of being in the hall of fame and this REALLY hurts his chances to be a first ballot. Alot of HOF voters refuse to vote for those that used PED or HGH.

I'm disappointed that, in a 60 minutes interview in 2007, he said he never used PED or HGH.

Great he admitted it...now earse all his stats from the time he admitted taking it to the time he stopped! This should go for all who have been busted....Bonds, Clemons and so forth!

It's far too early to talk about his Hall of Fame chances. A lot of things can happen between now and when he's on the ballot that can change voters' opinions of him.

McGwire was the early barometer for HOF voting in this regard, but he isn't a fair comparison. He retired before any steroid policy was in place. He only admitted to using andro, which was legal in MLB at the time (but not the NFL or Olympics). His refusal to answer questions before Congress was really damaging to his image.

anyways, we can look at his HOF chances in a couple of years, as long as he doesn't keep pulling brett favres...

I still think he's a HoFer so far regardless. As long as they weren't against the Red Sox I was really hoping he or Pujols would break the home run record just to knock Barry Bonds off that list.

Don't forget, I think Manny has a legitimate chance of breaking the record. He's 36, average of 25 Homers for like 7 years.... Who knows?

It is unlikely. 2 reasons. 1, He needs about 230 homers, at age 36, he doesnt show signs of slowing down, but he needs at least 7 years of 30 HR. 2, does a team want to sign him? If no team signs him, there is no chance he is going to break the record. A-Rod is already secured for 9 more seasons.

I thought it made sense A-Rod didn't say exactly what he took. I'm almost certain he knew, this guy works harder then anyone and he cares about his body, he would know what he was taking. But if he says the specifics, then that could lead to further investigation in which people would give him that specific type of steroid. Then he would get pulled into all this other stuff, and possibly even a law suit (against his supplier, if he supplied others) and why risk that. He has made it clear that the specifics of what he got and how he got it will be private, and I agree with this way of thinking.

Manny break the home run record? I really doubt its a possibility , he won't hit 33/34 home runs when he's 43 (he'd have to hit around 33-34 for 7 years). Still, I'd rather have A-Rod break it then have Bonds, who took more steroids for a longer time.

The main reason is that their young, although A-rod is too, but since he has taken Steroids my support towards him diminished

i had to skip 45-50 minutes of sportscenter today (i had it recorded) because of A-Rod crap.
all i ended up deeing were some college basketball highlights and the top plays.

Anyway, Tejada got charged with lying to Congress. A-Rod did the right thing, instead of Clemens who likely lied under the oath.

I don't think there is any chance of Texiera or Wright breaking the record. I doubt either will be hall-of-famers, of course its way to early to know. Pujols is unlikely, but I wouldn't say its impossible. I'd say A-Rod is probably going to break it baring injury all the same, and that Pujols will crack 500. I think at this point its safe to say that baring an injury in the next 2-3 years, Pujols will be a hall-of-famer.
