I understand both sides of it, but I still disagree.

Y'Know, I randomly came across a few people who had problems at birth who may have been aborted if their parents had decided to. And one person...grew up to be...THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I don't understand how he could be promoting this evil bill with that fact. It's just weird, if you ask me. :?

Well, some families have 10 or more kids. Some of those are freak shows on Discovery or whatever, and some are just irresponsible people. Is that fair to a new life - to be the 10th baby, on welfare, no chance at education or a good life...

I am going to be personally responsible, and have 2, MAYBE 3 kids. None of this 10 kid crap. We're all living longer, there are more of us than ever, all using resources, buying things, pooping, buying homes, consuming, etc. If we're allowed to procreate as we see fit (which we demonstratably cannot reign ourselves in from overpopulating everything), this world will soon be clogged with humans. Look at how the population has skyrocketed...we have few if any predators anymore, we conquer all kinds of disease, and then we fight and defend everyone's right to have more and more kids. Doesn't take much logic to realize that all this results in way too many people, and not enough world to go around.

Abortion isn't a cure for that - being smart, enacting regulations, forcing prospective parents to be tested (psychologically, emotionally, basic math/english/budgeting) before being able to procreate...that's the only answer. Otherwise, we're living in the golden age of what will soon be a very grotesque planet overrun with humanity. Abortion isn't pretty, but restricting it, demeaning it, and fighting against it in some sense of superior righteousness is maniacal, as well as detrimental to our future as inhabitants of this planet. If someone isn't ready, made a mistake, and doesn't want to ruin their life and their unborn child's...for God's sake, who am I to tell them otherwise.

What gives you the right to say one human shouldn't live? no matter how bad it is, you can't tell people they can and can't have kids. That would be unconstitutional, and the supreme court would a stop to it so fast, you couldn't blink, with all the money YOU SAY we invest in longevity, we could find alternative housing and supply means as well. Killing innocent babies is not the answer, and it never will be.

Sure, man - everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What's your solution? Just keep growing - 5 billion, 6 billion, 10 billion...what happens in 2050? 2070? When all the forests are gone, and it's all houses?

Nothing gives you or me the right. But the thing is, children is a burden the entire culture bears - taxes support schools, adoption agencies, DSS, medicare/medicaid, SCHIP, daycare programs, welfare...you and I are paying for it already, today. So if you have no kids...well, you still pay for those that do. And if you have 10...well, we all share the burden; it doesn't hit you hard. Kids are a tax deduction, even. Even if you ignore or don't want to face the environmental impact, the pure economic impact is still there.

It's all well and good to posture about the constitution and rights and yadda yadda - how about the rights of those wishing to adopt? People that can't have kids - you could say they are disabled, by not having a functional uterus or whatever - can they raise children? Heck, no! Two years of a rigorous process to adopt, be screened, interviewed, surprise visits, background checks.

But if you have a functional uterus - fire away and have kids, endlessly, no controls or stipulations. Doesn't matter if you're crazy, a pervert, child molester...does that seem fair? Is that equal rights? Hmm.

You can selectively interpret our constitution to provide freedoms in some ways and not others, but that doesn't seem like its purpose. And at the time of its writing, there were a LOT less people; this wasn't even an issue (mostly cuz we had already plowed the natives off most of the continent, of course). Overpopulation has to be looked at and addressed; if we don't have the courage to look at it now, it's going to make the issue a lot harder and more sever 20, 30 years from now.

But that's enough from me. No need to drag the whole board into such serious sad topics - today was a great day! :) Just trying to give people a little more perception, perhaps more worldly of a view.

Surre, you think that. Let's agree to end it right here, k?
anyway, yeah, great day.
