They have had success with home grown players, and too often their attempt to "steal" players by signing them as free agents to massive contracts has backfired- a la Kevin Brown, Hideki Irabu, Key Igawa, Carl Pavano, etc.

They make the other teams and their fans jealous by snagging all these high-profile free agents, but lots of times it doesn't work out.

The Yankees are not "that bad". They are not bad at all. How is their fault that they bring in more revenue than any other team? What are they supposed to do? Cut a cheque for Tampa and all the other poor teams? Loan some of their star players to the poor teams for a few weeks each year? Make the infield at the new stadium out of gold shavings instead of shale? Come on now.

Haha, you sound like my Red-Sock fan uncle. The Red Sox did handle him terribly, remember how they offered Crisp what he wanted to try to scare him into signing? They didn't take his threat seriously. Damon went from every Boston fan's favorite player to the most hated in a month in 2004.

I found a sign in a Red Sox game that said this:
D A M [crossed out]O[/crossed out] N
They take this WAY too seriously.

I believe it's like that in everything in life. People are always looking for someone or something to blame, or avoid having an explanation for.
I'll (sorta) make up an example: If you've read my "I need some advice"thread (this isn't advertising) you'll know that one kid on my wrestling team has now wrestled me twice and beat me for varsity. If, let's say, a big meet is about to come around, and i manage to beat him for it because i've been working harder and giving it my all, and the meet comes down to my match, and i win it for us, that's karma. Good karma for me, bad karma for the other guy, since almost anyone i can beat, there's a good chance he can beat, too. Karma isn't a magical influence. It's like a reward or punishment for how you act and work, etc.

Karma, I believe, was actually deciding what form you would be reincarnated into after death in another religion. If you had good karma, you would go to a good form, like a human person. If you had bad karma, you would come back in a bad form, like a fruit fly.

Edit: We should get back on topic. I hate the Yankees because they spend too much money and can be contenders every year because they can always get good players from weaker teams, like my Pirates (if we had anybody good). It kinda ruins baseball in my opinion. Of course, I also don't really like the Red Sox because of that GIANT check heading Daisuke Matsuzaka's way.

You say that, (and it's certainly a valid point), but it also saves baseball. Teams like the Yankees keep baseball popular. People watch baseball to see teams like this live or die, without the Yankees and especially without the Yankees AND Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers, Cubs, and Mets, the sport would fall apart. No one would watch it, the ratings would dip so much that ESPN and FOX wouldn't pay to host the shows.
Even more so, if the Yankees didn't exist, baseball might not anymore. After the black sox scandal, baseball's popularity plummeted and was incredibly unpopular. What brought it back? Babe Ruth and the Yankees! If the Yankees never existed, Baseball would be less popular then Soccer in the U.S. today vrs. being the sport that has by far the grest revenue and profit. The Yankees also had a huge role in free agency, which might have not existed without them. They also are by far the biggest contributer to charity as an orginization and the majority of players on the team have their own successful charity (Cano, A-Rod, Jeter, Damon, Rivera, Ect.). They also led to the expansion into Asia. By that I mean advertising and showing games in Japan, Taiwan, ect. So you may have a lot of reasons to hate them and wish they never existed, but you also have a lot of reasons to love them and thank God there around. Doesn't mean you have to want them to do well (I do of course), but be glad they exist. I'm sure they'll do more good for baseball in the future and continue to lead the way.
