We are not a force to reckoned with, Believe me, we're not (Pistons in 04', Wings last season, Tigers in 06') but the lions? feel free to laugh at them, I don't care. (NY Giants fan I am)

Nominating Detroit?

Didn't Detroit just win a Stanley Cup? Philadelphia fans are starved for a major championship and continue to support their teams in merchandising and attendance. Living in or around Philadelphia all my life I can only attest to the fact that Philadelphia fans are passionate and that can be both a negative or positive thing. The idea that Philadelphia fans are always negative or somehow don't support their teams is absurd. Outside of hockey, there hasn't been a serious Philadelphia/Pittsburgh rivalry in a long long time. Phillies-Mets has been a fun rivarly.

I'm pretty biased, but most of us will jump up to defend our own. Outside of Philadelphia I'd tip my hat to St. Louis fans who are a lot like Philly fans only without the stingers. Outside of baseball I'd mention Green Bay and Steeler fans too.

Seconding the phills?

The fundamental problem is, how do you define "best?"

I've been in a lot of major league stadiums over the years - St. Louis, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Texas, Houston, San Diego, Atlanta, LA Dodgers, Seattle, and Colorado. Based on personal experience, St. Louis fans are tops in terms of understanding the game. St. Louis fans will cheer a guy who grounds out to 2B with a man on and no one out because they know the guy did the right thing in getting the runner to 3B where he can score on a sac fly - even if he didn't drive the run in himself. They'll also respectfully acknowledge great performances and accomplishments by opposing players. That is extremely rare. Conversely, in Texas they'll play "Hit the Road Jack" after an opposing pitcher who has dominated the Rangers' batters for 7+ innings comes out of the game. That's a big pet peeve of mine, along with playing "Nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye" after winning a well played hard fought back and forth battle where either team could have pulled it out.

Second to St. Louis on my personal list would be Boston. Almost as knowledgeable, but infinitely more obnoxious.

Bottom of the list, next to Texas, is the LA Dodgers. I've never seen a crowd more disinterested in being at a close game that the home team was winning, and even with the reputation LA crowds have for bailing after the 7th inning, I was shocked how empty the ballpark was in the 9th inning of a 4-3 game.

Let me change this to two questions. Who have the best fans in the world and who are the worst? It is clear, Yankee fans are the worst and best fans in the world. While I agree tha Red Sox fans are incredible as well, historically, there have been no fans quite like those of the Yankees. They have consistently been the best and worst fans in baseball as there is nothing like a standing ovation in Yankee stadium or the pain of dealing with booing. While I have always been pissed and annoyed when any fans boo, but I have never quite felt anything else like the feeling of adreniline rushing through your body at Yankee stadium. I have been at Fenway and I don't feel anything like it (as biased as I am). Every talks about that spooky feeling you get in Yankee stadium. I don't think its spooky because I understand why, to a certain extent. But it is still simply incredible and I don't think any fans or stadium will ever be that great.

The Yankees have gone through periods of time where they were terrible, two such. Have you ever heard of the "Great Depression" the 20-30 years the Yanks never won a world series and were in last every year. While I understand that there are those who have suffered much worse, they have been incredibily loyal in these times. The Rays fans can't be called the best because they've stayed loyal for two reasons. They have never been good untill now and there are incredibily few fans before this year. Second, the Rays haven't suffered that much as they've only been around for 10 years. The Pirates hisorically have been a good team as have Kansas City and several other teams you've mentioned. Don't look at how bad teams are now verse how they've been rhetorically.

By sticking around, you tack on a minimum of 45 minutes to your time to exit the first 5 miles from the stadium. Traffic sucks, everyone knows it. Besides, we'd rather listen to Vin Scully on the radio (yes i know he does 1-3 now, and 1-3, 7-9+ in playoffs).

That's not that bad or long, but I'm sure relative to your age it is. Most temas have suffered worse (even the Yanks haha). I don't know Detroit fans that well (I mean as in the stadium, you can't judge them by the Detroit Fans you know perssonally), so I have no idea what there like.

If you've read the poll, teams have to be nomianted to eb in the vote, because i can't list all 32 teams. Once 2 other forum members have supported you, that team will be in the vote. one nomination per member. Yanks are nominated.
