DragonBall Z???

Holy crap, you just watched the satan of anime. DBZ was popular in the 80s and 90s.
I'm not sure how characters with massive torso's tiny heads and almost no legs with bound feet became popular.
Watch some The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (not very actionny) or Neon Genesis Evangelion (super combat mecha with deep thinking and some religious ideology).

yeah, but DBZ is painful to watch, every episode is about beating someone up with some supercharged testosterone fueled power.

where in the story is Major currently at? Is it past the WBC yet?

The manga is in the Major Leagues right now I think (haven't actually read it) but the anime is at AAA, occasionally branching off to follow Toshiya in the NPB and a couple of the other characters.

I'd definetely recommend Major to anime fans here, it's pretty entertaining without quite being as ridiculous as other sports series. Don't get me wrong though, I like Eyeshield 21 and PoT as much as the next guy but i'm sure everybody can agree that they're hardly realistic. That being said, at the end of the day Major is still an anime and does have several "IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY" moments throughout the series but they're hardly the equivalent of curving a tennis ball perfectly around the pole or having it stop perfectly as it hits the ground.

Other baseball recommendations
Rookies (manga only)
Mr Fullswing (manga only and pretty "wacky". Don't expect realistic baseball in the slightest)
Ookiku Furikabutte/Big Windup! (anime and manga)

Haha well I tried watching it but couldn't get past the first 8 or so episodes, it just seemed more like a romance story than a baseball one. Do they actually get around to playing some baseball? I'll give it another shot if they do.

of course! lots of great drama/baseball in the ninety something episodes you haven't watched yet.

if you have time, you definitely should watch it.

and for Ookiku Furikabutte, they only had 1 season of anime :(, is the manga still going on?

I'll try to get around to it sometime. I remember only starting it because my ps2 had problems and I couldn't play Power Pros, but that's fixed now.

Yeah the Ookiku Furikabutte manga is still going and a few of it's been scanlated.
