My school is like that until you get in 4th grade. Also there are 2 6th grade classes at my school and we're in different classes, and we're actually REQUIRED to do at least 2 years of band. Also your friend is what you said he sis

So, if you guys had an option, would you rather write an essay on Alexander the Great, or Octavian/Augustus?

Those are the two options I've weighed down to and I'm really interested in both >.>

I've recently learned about both of them, and I would chose to do Alexander the Great

Augustus, Emperor of Rome

Imperator Gaius Julius Divi Filius Caesar Ocatavianus Augustus, to be now referred to as solely Augustus (although throughout his life he has been referred to as Octavian and other names by historians, for simplicity though, he will just be called Augustus.) was the founder of the Roman Empire while being its first emperor, serving from 27 BC until his demise in 14 AD. Augustus was born into an old and wealthy branch of the Octavii family, a plebeian family (courtiers) but later converted his dynasty into patricians (rulers) due to becoming the emperor of Rome. Throughout his life he has been called many different names. His birth name was Gaius Octavius, named after his father.

Early Life

Augustus was born in the great city of Rome, on the twenty third of September in 63 BC. He was given the name Gaius Octavius Thurnius, his latter name later being dropped. As Rome was very crowded, Augustus was raised in his father’s home village of Velletri. In his memoirs, Augustus seldom refers to his father’s family. In 59 BC, just at the age of four, his father died. His mother later married a governor of Syria (Lucius Marcius Philippus) whom claimed to be a descendant of the great military commander Alexander the Great. The governor never took an interest in the young chap in Augustus, as a result, Augustus was raised by his grandmother, who was also the sister of Julius Caesar. In one of two years, 52 or 51 BC, Augustus’ grandmother died. Although Augustus would’ve been just 10 or 11 or so at the time, he organized and delivered the funeral for his grandmother. Afterwards, his mother and Lucius started putting more effort into raising the young man. In 48 BC Augustus began wearing the Toga (a male outfit solely worn by Roman Citizens) and was voted into the College of Pontiffs. The College of Pontiffs was a group of the Roman Republic whose members were the highest ranking priests of the state religion. At the time, the state religion would have been the Hellenistic religion, this religion contained such gods like Jupiter and Mars. The religion was closely related to what citizens of Greece would have believed in but theirs was varied, including such gods as Artemis and Ares. The two religions are similar as to what Shia and Sunni were, just not due to the political factors in which created the two.


Well, I decided to do Augustus, that's a really rough draft of one paragraph and a little.

I feel as if I'm expanding at topics which are too broad but yolo, there's no limit.

Umm, A. He's the same generation as you. You guys are only 6 years apart. And B. At least he knows how to form proper sentences with correct grammar.

Six years is actually a pretty big difference at that age (doesn't make a difference if one guy is 30 and the other is 36, but 12 and 18 is a big difference. Kind of like comparing a 5 year old to someone who hasn't been conceived yet). It's not exactly a different generation, but still.
