Just got an interesting idea for an expansion log since Moneyball hit theaters today:

Billy Beane is fired from being the GM of the A's and takes on a scrubby expansion team - a team that's roster can be described as (and I quote Paul DePodesta's character from the movie) "an island of misfit toys" - players that were undervalued by other teams, each having their own background story- in the same "Moneyball" fashion that he tried before.

(Another idea is that you could also do this with a team of has-been FAs.)

I don't know that I'd do this (I probably would be able to think up the storyline of how Beane got fired, went looking for a new team, etc., but I don't think I'd be able to think up something for the background of the players, and especially because I'm always wanting to do other franchises) - we'll see on this though. It could be a log I do next year after the offseason - when I'm not doing as much updates on the rosters.

If someone would want me to write up the first part and then they could think up the ideas for the scrubs, then I'd be interested- but reguardless of what happens - it's an idea for someone at least.

But yeah, I want to see the movie too. It looks pretty good.

I'm a Giants fan, but the story is that the A's, a down n' out team at the time were taken over by Beane, who used every bit of info that he could squander and every player that was in the teams price market to turn them into a winning team.
