They are a good team. They need to prove they're elite by reaching the pinnacle of baseball.

lol We could care less about the Yankees history. We're beating them, and we're focused on the better teams like the Rays, Tigers, and Athletics.

Also, the Rays have never won a World Series. Are they not elite? Same with the Rangers. Are they not elite? Tigers haven't won one since '84. Are they not elite?

They were last year. See, no 2013 team is elite at the moment, until they prove themselves. What do you think the purpose of winning the World Series is? Teams have elite players, but one or two or three etc. players don't make up a team. The Red Sox have elite players, but until they prove themselves, they are not an elite team.

Okay, you seem to have some sort of obsession with the Red Sox proving they're "elite" when, to be quite frank, no one else gives a flying f*ck. The Red Sox, along with any other organization, do not need to win the World Series. They've won it all in 2004 and 2007 and have been in playoff contention almost every year since. That's all they need to do to solidify a spot as one of the best in baseball and give their fans something to cheer for each year. Besides, the playoffs are so short that even the greatest team in history could lose to an underdog in a 5-7 game series. WS titles just aren't as good grounds of justifying a team's strength as playoff appearances are because it takes 162 games of consistency to prove yourself worthy of the playoffs but only 4 days of bad luck to lose out on the world series.

And as for the part about the Yankees: It's a rivalry. The fans f*ck with each other.
