So Upton was blown away by the Braves after his meeting with them back on the 15th. Said he "really felt at home", we knew that was a factor in him possibly signing there. Then again, the Braves offering an extra 20 mil. then the Phillies (Braves - 5yr/75m, Phils - 5 yr/55m was highest offer) couldn't hurt.

BTW the Wilton Lopez deal is off, it seems. Really would've helped to get him and solidify the back-end of the pen. Been quite a bad week for the Phillies so far, hopefully RAJ makes up for it with some big move.

Well, Denard Span of the Twins is off the table. Just got traded to the Nats for a minor leaguer.

Yeah, I don't know exactly what the Phillies are waiting for. They've been unusually quiet this offseason. Things might heat up at the Winter Meetings next week though (maybe a birthday present in the form of a big free agent signing/trade on Wednesday! ), they certainly have some leverage on the FA market as there's not a huge amount of teams left besides them going for CFs.

I just got a puppy! Well, kinda. My sister has a chihuahua/poodle puppy that she got about a month and a half ago, but her landlord changed his mind, and now won't let her keep it. So now I'm gonna take care of her until June when she gets a new apartment. Feel bad for my sister, but I get a puppy out of the deal.

Hey guys, my C is at 2/E/F/F/E/E/E at August Week 2 in Success. Is he supposed to be this bad at this point? I've had some bad practices, I have only played a few games ( in which I didn't do anything amazing in), and haven't been S/L much so far.

I imagine the Phillies are still in the market for Michael Bourn or Angel Pagan. Both are good options. Pagan could be a relative steal.

If the Phillies have issues with old age, why don't they continue to farm talent through the minors instead of signing guys to long contracts up until they're 35?

My only problem is, I don't trust that we'd be able to get Bourn without overpaying because Boras. And if we do get him to a 5+ year deal, I have a feeling we'll regret it with Bourn's main skill being speed/fielding and his legs will wear down soon enough - he's at 31 right now. And then I don't feel Pagan will be enough of an impact player - we need some power (Upton would've helped) and yet contact hitters too. Ending up with a guy like Pagan + Youkilis for 3B and a reliever like Adams with money left over doesn't seem like as big an offseason as they could have with their money.

So, I don't know. Waiting might be a mistake on their part.



Well, I don't like that they sign long contracts like that, but in terms of signing FA I wouldn't say they should give up and focus just on developing prospects. They have some good prospects down on the farm right now.

I hate the weather at this time of year, well, starting around this time of year. My hands always dry up and crack in several places from the cold, even when I wear the thickest gloves possible nearly all of the time I'm outside. And in the coming months, the weather is definitely going to get much, MUCH worse before it gets any better.

It's this time of the year I always wish I could get winters off of school instead of summers, so I could pretty much just hibernate through the winter months.

Well, getting off during the Summer months gives you opportunities to go out and do things, instead of being shelled up in your house.
